Deighan's Benone Caravan Park
Reviewed February 8, 2013

We stay here quite often with our tourer. A very well family run site with a mix of static and touring sites, with a new toilet block just built. The only thing they don’t seem to have is dish washing facilities (no large sinks for doing your pots and pans). You get a card on arrival for entry and if you require another you pay a returnable deposit. Visitors must park outside the park, which is a good idea– only resident’s cars in car park. There is a little safe play park which the kids will love and of course you are close to all the amenities at Benone. We have always found the staff at reception very friendly and helpful and keen to welcome you back. We had to cancel a night once because we had a funeral to go to and they gave us a credit note to come back for another night. Another very nice asset to this site is that if you intend to come back the next weekend, there is a holding bay were you can leave your caravan at a small cost. If you are traveling up to Belfast the cost of storage for the week would be less than the price of the petrol to tow the van up and down again. The site is kept very clean and the grass well cut by the owners. The wind can be strong on this site as there are no trees or hedges, so you need to peg down well, but if you do that, you should have no problem.

Thank you for your informed and kind review. We are working on dish washing facilities on the New Toilet block but have not completed them as yet. Hopefully will be sorted out for your next vist.

We spent a long weekend here in mid sept. we stayed in our touring caravan. we would warn you that the site is very open and benone area is very flat. We were almost blown away on the first night. Thank goodness we had opted not to put our porch awning up as it most certainly would not have survived! This is one of the most spacious sites we have stayed at, especially if you opt for hard standing sites which are very generous.
The brand new shower/toilet block is the best we have seen. You have to pay for the showers but its good that there is a timer to let you know how long you have left and you can pay 40p for a "man length shower" or £1 for a longer one. One criticism would be they could have been warmer.
Site is very well kept and ideally located within walking distance to the benone beach and complex. Downhill castle and gardens are also 5 mins away and is definitely one of my favourite locations to visit in NI.
Overall one of the best sites we have stayed at and we will definitely be back.

We stayed here on the may day bank holiday and it was all in all a great wee caravan site. Great location right on the beach and close to coleraine and limivady.

We noticed that the toilet/shower block was not kept up to the standard I would expect. Not talking filthy but certainly it could do with more regular cleaning. Given it was a bank holiday and it was pretty much full, I would however expect it to be much better.

Great for watersports and location.

Stayed here in my partner's motor home it was fantastic, really good location right beside the beach which you can drive onto. Wonderful shower facilities very clean. Main Shops aren't far away in the car and there is a local chippy and shop five min walk. Good play park in the site. Also is a kiddie pool which wasn't open as we went out of season but we had a look around and it looks excellent. Will defo be back soon.

This park is situated right on the North Coast. There are 3 caravan parks close by but Deighan's is the first one you come to (first left). This is a family run park and they really couldn't be more helpful when you arrive. There is a security gate that you get a card for - this is the only way to get your car & caravan in and out. There are speed bumps all round the park so it's safe for kids on bikes etc. There is also a play park for children.
The park is nice and flat and has a mixture of static caravans and plenty of hard stands and manicured grass on which to park your touring caravan. There are electric points by each caravan stand and there are plenty of water points. The toilets and showers are spotless and smell lovely when you go in! The beautiful blue flag beach is about a 10 min walk way (you can take your car on the beach) and Castlerock is a short drive away and has an equally lovely beach - our dog had a fab time on both! There is a takeaway and shop close to the park but they weren't open when we were there - just out of season. There are other shops just up the main road and Tesco etc in Coleraine which isn't too far away in the car. Mussenden Temple and the Bishop's House (castle) are well worth the visit up on the cliffs and the views from up there are breathtaking. The chippy on Castlerock Main Street went down well with my husband - huge portions and quite cheap.
This is a great park for a relaxing trip or as a base for touring the North Coast (Giant's Causeway, Portrush, Derry etc). We would definately recommend it and will certainly be back.
