“17 Years and still as good !”
Reviewed March 28, 2014

Just back from yet another three night break and I have to say we enjoyed it every bit as much as the first time we visited seventeen years ago!

We make a point of going here at least once every year for a break and it has never let us down.

Food is always excellent and so are the "Refreshments"

Sharon at the front desk was there on our first visit and is still there today doing an excellent job! Also a mention to Jennifer the young waitress who served us in Greens Restaurant , she really was a pleasure to talk to and gave great service with her great sense of humour!
These two really are an asset to the Hotel!

Having said that all the staff deserve a mention as they really are superb!

Also the Spa is well worth a visit if you really want a chill out!

Looking forward to the next visit already

Room Tip: We have never had a problem with any room we've had and have always been overlooking the golf co...

We were on a short overnight stay. We were in a family room which had 1 double and 2 single beds. A full bathroom and a separate toilet as well. Very spacious for a family.

All staff we met were very friendly and helpful.

We didn't get a chance to use the pool facilities unfortunately.

We ate at the Coach House which is in the hotel grounds yet is outside. It had a lovely atmosphere and good staff. The food however was not good. The menu had a very large selection. However I would have preferred a smaller selection done well rather than a large choice done not so well. We did mention this at checkout and the receptionist was very helpful and altered our bill. This was not expected yet was greatly appreciated.

Buffet breakfast was in the main restaurant and had a good selection from porridge and cereal to fried eggs, potato & soda bread. Again the service staff were very friendly.

We are hoping to return for a 2 night stay as it would be a nice family break.

We have just returned from a very enjoyable stay 17-19 March. We were on a 2 nights B&B + 1 dinner break costing £94 each - great value. We arrived early and were greeted by the friendly Reception staff. Our room was not quite ready (it was available for us at 2.30pm even though normal check-in time was stated as 3pm) so we decided to go to the adjoining Coach House for lunch. As it was St. Patrick's day the restaurant was very busy but we only waited a few minutes for a table. The food was excellent and we decided to eat there again that evening as the menu was varied and the portions were large and everything was beautifully presented. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the house wine was priced at £10.95 a bottle and pints at £3.30 - at last a Hotel that doesn't over inflate bar prices. Our room was spacious, it had a kingsize bed plus 2 singles and would easily have suited a family. It was very well equipped and spotless. Over our 2 night stay we made full use of the pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi in the Hotel's leisure complex/spa. Again all the facilities were clean and well maintained. We took our included 4 course dinner on the second night of our stay; it was also served in the Coach House and maintained the high standards of the earlier meals we had taken there. The buffet breakfasts were served in Green's restaurant and easily set us up for days out walking on the nearby beaches (we chose Benone Strand) and for forest walks in the Roe Valley Country Park (access is 300m from the Hotel car park). We went to this Hotel on recommendation from friends and we would also recommend it. The Staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful, (especially all the reception staff) and there were plenty of places for a quiet sit down and of course for golfers the adjoining course. We will be back for another visit.

Had a lovely one night stay at the hotel, Sunday night for the St Patrick's bank holiday weekend. The staff were all very welcoming and professional, on hand to answer any questions. The hotel itself is very good, clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Location is fab- we arrived early so left the car at the hotel and went for a walk in the country park just 300yds away. Beautiful walk (recommend decent trainers/ boots, quite muddy in parts) and had nice cup of tea & cake at visitor centre.

Room was brilliant- considering it was a basic double we were pleasantly surprised at the size (double and single bed) also spotlessly clean.

We made a dinner reservation at the Coach House- unfortunately only part of our stay which wasn't good. Booked for 7.30 and when we arrived were told there would be a couple of minutes wait. Left at the bar for 20 minutes before we were seated (took 10 minutes to be offered a drink and this was shouted from the other side of the bar) and even then we were packed in tight with other tables so felt as if we were dining with them. Asked about going to Greens instead and were told it was closed by the waiter- on our way back to the room could clearly see it wasn't and plenty of spare tables. Food itself was good enough, however given the dining experience wouldn't say value for money. Sure the Coach House would be fine for a lunch but certainly wouldn't recommend for dinner.

Had a very comfortable nights sleep and breakfast was great- loads of choice and good quality. We arrived about 9 and were seated immediately, however for about 30 mins after could see people were waiting a bit so could be better to come early.

All in all great value and would return.

Literally just back from this great hotel. We stayed for 2 nights In a superior room and had a wonderful time. The hotel is immaculate, the carpet in the public areas is sumptuous and so deep it immediately gives you the confidence that you will have a great stay. Our room was lovely and when we let reception know that the hot water had to run a minute or so before running clear on one evening, they made a note (as we didn't want maintenance there during our stay) and as we checked out the receptionist again apologised for it even though she was not who we reported it to. The only slight disappointment was that Greens Restaurant was not open on the evenings we were there but The Coach House was open. We ate twice in The Coach House and on the first night my steak had to be returned as it was not cooked to my request but I think this was down to the fact that the restaurant had suddenly filled up with non booked customers and my steak was given to another diner. However the staff were very apologetic and changed my steak without a problem and it was delicious. They also gave us our wine on the house because of their error. The spa is very well priced for what is offered and again the staff are great. All in all a great hotel where it is so obvious the staff are well trained in hospitality. My friend and I both worked in hospitality and we were very impressed. There is no doubt we will return when we can. Many thanks publicly to the staff for their wonderful hospitality it was wonderful to be treated so well.

Room Tip: I honestly feel that any room in this hotel would be lovely as it is surrounded by park land. Perhap...
