Good bits - Just returned from 2 nights at Kings Court Hotel booked through Groupon and had a lovely time as well as a real bargain. We stayed in the new Kings Rooms and I cannot fault the room we had, spacious, clean and very comfortable with everything you could need. The staff were friendly and pleasant and the breakfasts were very good too.
No so good bits - The bar prices are on the expensive side, as is some of the food in the hotel. Whilst we couldn't fault the quality, £14 for a tiddy tiny main course (duck with stir fried veg and noodles) felt a bit of a rip off, as was £5 for a dessert straight from the freezer. Consequently we ate at the nearby Moat Inn on the second night and had a lovely meal there. I would recommend this as an option, it's only a short walk down the road. I wish we'd done this on the first night though and eaten at the hotel on the Friday as that was curry night and I thought it looked excellent as well as being good value for money at £10 for poppadums, curry, rice, naan and a drink.
We were woken at 1am on our first night by the fire alarm which I know isn't the hotels fault but it was very disorientating and it was a false alarm. I asked the following day what had been the cause but didn't get an answer other than the alarms are very sensitive and can be set off by a cigarette or even the showers.
Because we had a bagrain deal we are very happy with the stay but would say do ask for one of the new Kings Rooms and watch the bar/food prices.
