Description: The Holly Bush, Alcester opened under new management on 2nd March 2015. A sister pub of local gems the Fleece Inn, Bretforton and The Cardinals Hat, Worcester the Holly Bush hopes to resume as the community's favourite watering hole. We offer quality real ales from local breweries, premium lagers and a fantastic range of locally sourced English Cuisine. During the colder months the log burners and open fires offer welcome respite from the chill and in the summer the garden and terrace provide the perfect sun trap.

“Teje Hard at work?”

This is my local and for many years has won the Best Pub Award for Camra in this area.It is well known in the town for its well kept Beer and the large selection it has on offer. The food is as good if not a better reason to visit and if timed right, on a Sunday after the main meals have finished, a range of roasties, yorkie puds and onion gravy appear on the bar like Magic

“Choice, quality, personal service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2013

We looked around the town and found this the only menu which offered a good fish and vegetarian option within a small but varied and distinctive list. Prices were very reasonable an the setting small but nicely atmospheric. The food was well cooked and well presented and a request for clarification of ingredients taken seriously. Both mains and desserts were excellent and this is certainly a place to return to.

“Great drinking pub, fires in winter, lovely beer garden in summer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2013 via mobile

The Hollybush is always one of the most popular pubs in Alcester. It is made up of small rooms and usually has the fires lit in winter. The real ales are excellent and change regularly. The beer garden is very pleasant in summer. Local groups meet there such as Morris dancers and musicians. Our 5 year old daughter is always welcome at any time, even late evening, but my husband is not allowed to take her into the gents when she needs the loo! We don't eat there often as the menu is a bit more expensive than we usually like to pay and a bit limited. We have eaten there recently though and were very impressed with the quality of food. My portion size was very small, but my husbands was a good size. The staff were attentive enough and friendly.

“Back to Top Quality”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2012

A while back I did a slightly less than first class review for one of my favourite restaurants. What I had not realised was that at the time of this visit our lovely land-lady of 12 years standing had been not too well and passed over her kitchento a rather less acomplished lady cook. I am delighted to say she has now resumed control of her kitchens and all is back in order. The meat and fish in particular is all from known sources and - gosh - it shows. The quality, presentation, value and especially TASTE are all superb. Welcome back Teej!!!!!

“Nothing to write home about !”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 28, 2012

We have dined here on 3 different visits with varying standards in both food and service. The Sunday lunch is nice but not outstanding. There always seems to be a bit of confusion between the bar staff and the kitchen about service...are they serving food or not ??? service levels vary greatly between excellent and rather poor so it is difficult to assess how good this place really is ! The pub has great ambiance and is very quirky, but that is not what you want from the service. The locals/regulars gathered round the bar seem to find other customers a hinderance if they try to get near the bar to order or pay etc so this does little to make anyone feel welcome. Generally....I would say....close...but no cigar !
