“Lovely”

This art gallery and museum is an absolute joy to walk around. They have both permanent displays and regularly changing temporary displays. I visited with my 3 year old and it held her interest for the whole visit as there was plenty for her to look at. The staff are very friendly and there is a clean, bright cafe for when little legs got tired. The gallery also features a lovely shop area selling local artists work along with the normal souvenirs. They regularly have workshops and activities for both children and adults. Plenty of parking room if you drive. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. Does not have any pram lockers, but the staff put the pram to one side and kept an eye on it for me while we explored!

“A little gem”
Reviewed April 5, 2014

This art gallery and museum must be one of the more understated attractions. Birkenhead is not everyone's idea of a visitor location but this small art gallery contains some very interesting art exhibits plus local ceramics and model ships built in the UK, and Birkenhead in particular. A visit is well worth while and parking is excellent. The cafe offers all the usual requirements. We went to see some specific art work. The staff were particularly helpful and surprisingly knowledgeable. We'll worth the visit.

Thank you Hutt0n

Lots of show in most of the 14 galleries (one is dedicated to being an art room with classes and one currently storing some artwork but will be used for the next huge exhibition opening on the 2nd of April - The Williamson Open) and lots of new exhibitions throughout the year featuring contemporary art and artwork from the collections.

The cafe, shop and book shop are all doing well with new items on offer in the cafe and new artists represented in the shop.

There will be an exhibition featuring Della Robbia and the inspiration from Italy in June.

Hope to see you again soon.

“Birkenhead's Hidden Gem”
Reviewed March 22, 2014

This art gallery combines interesting temporary exdhibitions with some fine permanent displays.
We saw a fine temporary exhibition on Henry Moore with 11 sculptures and 13 works on paper.
Another 2 rooms display the fine and prolific work of the artist and book ilustrator Gary Blyth.
The permanent collections include an impressive collection of Della Robbia pottery, a display of Arthur H Lee tapestry and fine precision models of famous ships associated with Birkenhead and Liverpool. The gallery cafe serves very good cakes, snacks and drinks ina pleasant ambience at reasonable prices. All the gallery staff are friendly, informative and helpful.

Many thanks for your review, Hilary D

Hope you have seen some of our recent exhibitions and are aware, we are on a roll with new educational offerings for all ages. Lots of new exhibitions planned for 2016 and some ideas for 2017...that are rather exciting.
