Did around sixty tours in Ireland, many hostels I visited and slept in. This is the best and I recommend it to people who do like the character of a house and location, who enjoy a quiet atmosphere. I have this plan to fill it up with good friends, their wives and children. Thar 'll be my next trip, for sure!

The house is situated in the best beach we visited in Irekand! Great views (not from our bedroom), great place, peaceful and relaxing location (the railway that passes in front of the house was even closed for repairs! How lucky is that?), close to the most touristical N.I. spots, what else could you wish for? We had a family ensuite room (a double bed and two bunk beds), the only negative remark was the small bathroom, which was really, really small (but it still had a toilet, a shower and a washbasin)!...

Can't say enough good things about our stay! William was a wonderful host. The location can't be beat! Beautiful turn of the century hostel. I had our window cracked open a little all night and could hear the little brook that ran past the hostel. Beautiful morning walk on the beach to top it all off! William even suggested a restaurant to our evening meal that served us the best food we had in all of Ireland! Stay here!

Travelling from the Eurozone, the exchange rate wasn't in our favour so this place seemed quite expensive for a hostel, but it's really very good. The bedroom was on a par with many 2 to 3-star hotels with a simple but clean and acceptable bathroom. The common room downstairs was comfortable and the staff member whom we met was friendly and pleasant. Above all, this is a very good location.

I stayed here as a group of ten young adults following a group cycle from Belfast. The beach in front of the hostel was our finish line. The group were all made feel very welcome throughout our two nights here. William and other support staff were very helpful with their knowledge of the area. The location of the hostel is amazing and you would find it hard to match the views anywhere in Ireland. Facilities in the hostel were 1st class, its clean and very well maintained. A real gem.

Room Tip: Rooms with Sea views the best

This was a lovely old building with high ceilings and big windows beautifully done up by the owners, in a gob-smacking location overlooking a sandy beach. About 6 miles outside Coleraine. A well-kitted out kitchen (pick up some fresh coffee from Spar - they have a filter cofee machine here). A dining room with some nice pottery on show, and more crucially a living room with roaring fire and hundreds of LPs, presumably William's personal collection, which we played into the early hours! Mussenden Temple is worth a visit, as is William Hezlett house, one of the oldest thatched cottages in the country, which has been well preserved with quirky details. (£4.50 for non-National Trust members)

Room Tip: try get a room overlooking the beach. we saw horses and a pony-trap being exercised there in the mor...
