Lovely fresh food. In lovely surroundings.
Although in a Gallery, you can eat in the restaurant without having to 'do the tour'.
Nice tasty fresh food.
Well worth a visit!

I've been a number of times to see various exhibits and to enjoy a snack in the cafe.
FE McWilliams studio has been re-erected beside the modern gallery building and the landscaped area that is their common space is enjoyable as well! Inside the gallery are some pieces of FEMcWilliams work, together with well-chosen and well-displayed art exhibits. The gallery is calm and well-lit and the curators are welcoming, the exhibits range from enticing to challenging but are never dull.
The cafe and shop offer good food and sell a few choice jams, relishes, teas etc as well as artists prints and fine crafts.
Definitely worth keeping an eye on the programme of exhibits, or dropping in while passing, for coffee and a wee wander: it's amazing how you can enjoy an exhibit you might not have made a special trip to see, and it will likely encourage you to go there more often!

Admittedly I am not an "artist type" but the gallery element of this building just seems like an awful waste of a building and of public money which could be better used to benefit a larger number of the local people.
As a frequent visitor to the very nice and reasonably priced cafe (separate and private buisiness), it amazes me time and time again that the gallery still remains open even though it is frequently empty - and that's despite having a £0 entrance fee !!

Many Thanks for your review. We are disappointed that you have not enjoyed your visits to the gallery in the past and hope that you will take the opportunity to come again and ask for a personal tour of the exhibitions. Our gallery guides are always on hand to welcome visitors and facilitate their enjoyment of the exhibitions. We welcomed over 50,000 visitors last year and have had considerable positive feedback from both art lovers and those who are visiting a gallery for the first time. We have a varied programme of temporary exhibition aimed to attract a wide variety of audiences and make everyone welcome. We hope you continue to enjoy your visits to Quails at the Gallery and that you will soon find one of our temporary exhibitions to your liking.

Best Wishes,

Riann
