I visited the Scullery for the third time with my wife and all i can say is.....when are we going again??
This hidden gem of a restaurant is tucked away inside Scrabo Golf Club, next to Scrabo Tower and yes, you can imagine the panoramic views are spectacular! The restaurant itself is spacious and well maintained with very pleasant waiting staff ever attentive to your needs. Where do i start with the food? Johnny the head chef is a craftsman who has devised a menu which is both value for money and first rate quality combined. I started with chicken tempura with a sweet n sour dip and this was delicious. My wife had potato and lettuce soup. Lettuce?? I hear u say but yes it was fantastic, along with the homemade wheaten bread..omg..
For main course we both opted for the King Kong burger. It has to be seen to be believed...a stack of 2 burgers, 2 bacon,cheese,2goujons,3 onion rings and relish and salad. I only had one request..anyone got a ladder for me to get to the top of this. Much time and much munching later, we both had to succumb to the monster that is Kong, he had us beat but hey what a way to go! A delicious and appetite busting burger ive never had before. Yummy!
The waitress came to ask about desserts. I summoned the strength to look at it just out of interest as i was still busted from Kong. Thats when i spotted it.... Homemade sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce. My life changed forever at that point. You know when you go to a restaurant and theres one thing that blows your mind?? Well hand me a shotgun and stand well back. You MUST sample this!!! I was lost for words. Homemade deliciousness and i wanted the recipe. I asked the chef when i was leaving for a word and Johnny appeared. What a nice chap and the personal touch just made my day, especially as i was later facebooked by chef with the sticky toffee destructions!! Overall, excellant place to eat and if you miss this you are missing out. Remember, if you are in Ards this year and you hear a roar from the tower, dont panic, its just the next patron taking on Kong and maybe this time the big lad will go down!!
