“Loved it”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2007

Based in Spain I travel on business all over the world. My memories of Portrush are those of a university student in the late 80´s and Barrys as a child. So when an aunt invited me to lunch at the Adelphi I was a little bit reluctant, but wow ! was I surprised, great food, great service and what a beautiful place. My aunt is regular and quite often goes for a week-end pampering session and thinks the place is wonderful, which is quite an accolade in itself, because as a veteran New Yorker, she´s a hard gal to please.
Keep up the good work, we´ll be back at Christmas

We thoroughly enjoyed our three day stay, absolutely everything was great.
The hotel just recently opened and the attention to detail is amazing. We had a very large room with a very comfortable Kingsize bed and plenty of space. The owners and staff were extremely helpful and courteous. The food and service also superb. We did opt for room service one morning and really enjoyed it. I would recommend going down for the breakfast, as the buffet spread was tremendous with everything from exotic fresh fruit salad to freshly baked pastries and of course the wide range of cereals, juices and yoghurts. On top of that we then opted for one full cooked breakfast and one healthy start. Presentation was excellent.
On two nights we dined in the restaurant where we can again say that the experience was great - it's described as a "bistro" but the fine dining we enjoyed should rate it as a top restaurant.
We thorougly enjoyed the SPA, which is fully tiled with natural stone! It is equipped with a large overflowing jacuzzi, a sauna and also a steamroom.
Certainly we will be returning and spreading the word - Portrush was badly in need of a place of this quality.

The hotel has been converted from three terraced five storey town houses with a sympathetic approach to conserving the fine architectural features of the original buildings. The owners have chosen decor and fittings which are superb and a local artist had provided some fine paintings for display in the comfortable lounge. This also had a PC for free internet access for residents or other hotel clients.

My room, number 402, was on the fourth floof and had some of the massive roof timbers exposed as a feature which I found delightful. The bathroom was excellent and the room contained a king size double and a single bed. Since I was on my own I slept in the single and got some excellent sleep over the four nights I stayed. For me this is a rareity since I do sleep more soundly at home than in a hotel away from home.

The bistro served imaginative food to a superb standard. I would not in the least be surprised if the hotel achieves some recognition of its culinary excellence from one of the internationally recognised guides. Bibendum could really acquire an extra tyre or two here. The attentive service from the staff was much appreciated.

The owners must be congratulated on setting up a hotel which will be one of the jewels of the tourist industry in Northern Ireland.

Mark and Amanda Holmes the proprietors were very helpful and the receptionist that greeted us was first class.the health suite was also A1.The food served in the bistro was of very high standard and the waitress were very pleasant. There has been a lot of effort put into this hotel and i wish you every success in the near future. Keep it up. Staying in this Hotel made our holiday very enjoyable and we will return next year. Thank you all

Just completed a holiday in Ireland and spent two nights at the Adelphi. I always find it hard to get one room for five of us in the family but the room had three beds and was adequate, as was the breakfast, but neither were plush. The price for the room was also good value BUT it is very new and has some teething problems. On arrival one of my children found a very blood stained towel in the bathroom, when I took this down to reception the staff seemed unconcerned and even when I brought it up with the owner, it was dismissed. From a Health perspective I would have expected an instant response to the room being thoroughly cleaned before we used it and infact we kept finding blood in the room and we used a disinfectant to clean it ourselves! Despite having booked for five we had no table set for us at breakfast and had to squeeze onto a table for four, with the same happening the next moring, hardly good service not knowing how many people will be at breakfast. The rooms are NOT air conditioned as we had been led to believe and the room we had at the rear could not have an open window due to the noise from outside, so we had a sleepless night. Although there is no bar at the time we visited the owner gave me a drink from his cellar of his own Bulgarian red, whch was excellent. For a state of the art premise this needs time to bed in. Finally Portrush is a town under redevelopment and at this time does not seem to know what it wants to be. Limited, busy and rather expensive places to eat or fish and chips, we wont be going again, Portstewart is much nicer.

Certainly, if we are given an opportunity to sort a problem we try to do it immediately. The first issue was investigated and addressed within 20minutes of check in. The noise from the neighbouring hotel's extraction fan was dealt with within the hour of the complaint being received. The hotel next door have now assured EHS officials that they intend rerouting the extraction system to eliminate any noise. We aim to please - not leave unresolved issues. - Mark & Amanda Holmes

Just got back from a very enjoyable weekend on the Antrim coast, staying at the Adelphi. The rooms are clean and well equipped. The staff, and proprietors, are warm and friendly and the service is excellent. Breakfast was very good. Did`nt get a chance to try the Bistro but our taxi driver thought it was very good. Also did`nt get time to try the spa.

One word of warning, if you don`t like too much noise then ask when you book for a quiet room (at the back). We did`nt ask and were assigned a room at the front. However, as with so much else, the hotel were happy to help and gave us a room at the back.

I wish them well - this venture deserves to succeed.

Booked for 2 night break room 202 was of the highest standard, very clean and en-suite excellent. The sauna, steamroom and spa was of great quality, very spacious and well-equipped. The food and staff were excellent and made us feel right at home. On arrival we were greeted by the very friendly receptionist who couldnt be more helpful, the hotel is situated in a great location with plenty of activities and entertainment to keep everyone happy, we had a great sea view from our room. The owners of the hotel were always on hand if i had any questions or any requests. All in all this hotel made my stay in portrush all the more enjoyable, I would recommend this to anyone staying in this area. This is worth a visit, I will be returning hopefully in the near future
