“Great spot in Portrush”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

My husband and I stayed at the Antrim House for 2 nites in August 2012. The location is superb. The house is fabulous.....an old Victorian with traditional decor. But, the bathrooms have been very nicely (modern) updated. Bedroom was spacious, beds were comfortable. Comfy chair by the window -- perfect for reading and gazing. Very clean. Janice and her family were wonderful. Breakfasts were quite good, and the service was great. Best of all, I got to hold the family mini-schnauzer on my lap one morning (there are actually two mini-schnauzers....very cute, love attention, and willing to be held, petted, etc. But they don't bother you unless you 'ask for it'). Would highly recommend this B&B and would most definitely return for another stay.

Stayed for one night and wished we could have stayed longer. Twin room big and spotlessly clean. Beautiful bathroom of a standard higher than many 4 star hotels. Far exceeded our expectations and Janice was lovely as was the young girl who served breakfast. Hope to return in the future.

There is no questioning that the Antrim House is a lovely building and perfectly pleasant B&B, however, the decor etc does require a certain taste - patterned carpets, Victorian style furnishings, window shutters, skeleton keys etc, as a young family it probably wasn't entirely to our taste but thats not to say we did not appreciate the fact that it is inevitably to many people's tastes! On the plus side, our room was very spacious, and the bathroom was spacious with the most gorgeous bath! The big downside for me was when I closed the shutters of the window, there were several large cobwebs and a lot of dust in the space the shutters fold back into. I am a clean freak and this put me off a little - I felt that it really should have been cleaned as it is perfectly reasonable that people may close over the window shutters (I should mention that these shutters are on the inside of the window and not outside the building).
Our host was very pleasant and friendly, however, we only saw her when we arrived and when we checked out, in between times we didn't encounter her at all, however, I can completely understand that she may have been busy with other things so that is more an observation than a criticism.
Breakfast was entirely satisfactory and the B&B has its own car park, which is very useful.

We had one wonderful day and night in Portrush and stayed at Antrim house for one night. The place is really charming and you get a very friendly and cosey atmosphere. The host, Janice, is so nice and helpful. Our room (number 3) was big, clean and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was also very good - modern standard and clean. In the room we had a fantastic view through windows facing two directions: towards the beach (the marvellous coastline towards Giants Causeway) and the city.
The room had hairdryer, Iron, Ironboard and boiler to make tea.
Coming from Sweden we're not used to B&Bs but I must say that in future we will not concider hotels if there is a B&B available that hold the standard of Antrim House- great value for money!
The breakfast was absolutely fantastic!
The location is perfect i the central of the small town and convienttly close to Bushmills Destillery (which we visited - very nice: recommended!) and the fantasic north coast with Giants causeway and Dunluce castle.
We strongly recommend this B&B!

Room Tip: Our room was on the third floor - if you have problems with stairs ask for a room on one of the lowe...

We stayed for one night on our way to see the Giant's Causeway.

Pros: It's a charming old house right in the centre of town and our hosts were very helpful - printing out a document I needed for work and coming out to our car when we were leaving to return something she thought we had left behind.

Cons: The wifi range was borderline on the 2nd floor, although the lounge area is a much better spot to go surfing

Room Tip: Room 4 is cosy with a nice ensuite.
