“Average hotel in a superb location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2013

If my memory serves me correctly the Royal Court - under the name Killanoge - was built about 25 years ago and was hailed as a state of the art luxury hotel with prices to match. It occupied a superb location over-looking Royal Portrush Golf Club, the famous White Rocks and with uninterrupted views to Scotland. A recent visit for a wedding reveals that those heady days are long gone - it looks tired, with cramped sitting areas, and an old-fashioned feel to its decor and fittings. But the great view remains timeless.

And our room was probably one of the best in the house in that respect, with a clear view of the surroundings from the balcony - which unfortunately was right beside the air-conditioning plant. The room was fine with all mod-cons but the jacuzzi- type bath had obviously been there since the beginning and was looking distintly second-hand.

The wedding meal was pretty standard fare with dry over-cooked beef which cooled rapidly while waiting for the vegetables. All served by wooden faced staff. Breakfast was poor - everything prepacked or out of tins - and with what looked like white sliced pan toast.

Room Tip: It would be essential to get one of the rooms with a sea view.

We actually ate two Sundays at the Royal Court restaurant for the "carvery". Wonderful choices of food and generous portions. The most amazing part of the experience was the dining room with a wonderful view of the ocean. The staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. If you left hungry you had no one to blame but yourself. It was a grand way to spend a Sunday wth my Irish friends!

Great Hotel! Had a charity function in it on Friday 19th July, function room was free. Bedrooms lovely and so clean. Staff went out of there way to be helpful. Been to carvery on numerous occasions never found it a problem to order starter and dessert from a Menu. Don't understand Jim m. Comments

Stayed in one of the family rooms with large double and 2 single beds. Room was perfect for my family's needs plus the balcony made for stunning views. Staff were extremely attentive and friendly all weekend. Dinner in the restaurant was good and the fry for breakfast was great. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Wonderful hotel with a lot of old world charm! We had an incredible view of the beach and watched an amazing sunset. The staff was very helpful. Lent us an umbrella to walk down the beach in the mist, helped us try to find a place to eat after 10pm and when we decided to just stay in the staff rounded us up some sandwichs and tea! Could not have asked for better service!
