“HORRIFYING!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2011

This hotel is to be demolished in September - a fact we were not aware of before we arrived. The bedroom we stayed in was falling apart, dirty, woodworm ridden, with dust an inch thick on most surfaces. There was a putrid smell, and a broken radiator which meant that our room was unbearably hot for our entire stay (IN AUGUST).

To add insult to injury, the lady who checked us in informed us that she did all the housekeeping - moments after telling us that she could no longer climb the stairs due to heart problems! We were on the fourth floor...

We were charged SEVENTY POUNDS per night, to stay in a room that was below hostel standards. Thankfully, we saw the funny side, but I still feel very strongly that this should not be allowed.

I would like to warn anyone considering this hotel, to keep looking! Please do not put anymore money into the grasping, greedy hands of the owner of this disgraceful establishment.

This is a very low standard hotel. It's very faulty towers with hundreds of ornaments and tacky knick knacks everywhere. The receptionist was friendly enough and was apologetic that we didn't have a sea view room as requested. Our bedroom had one double bed (held up in the middle by a paint tin!) and a set of bunk beds. Each of the 3 beds had gaudy mismatched bedding, all obviously bought on the cheap. The bathroom was a split level with a jacuzzi bath,
which was nice but obviously everything was broken. The bath didn't operate and again there wad a strange mix of cheap towels, all different colours and styles. Far from our requested sea view, all we could see was a mouldy, wooden fire escape covered in bird droppings. Needless to say, the curtains had to remain closed. The breakfast was as expected by now, below standard. All obviously cooked hours before, so the beans were dehydrated and the one sausage and one slice of bacon dry.
To complete our Faulty Towers experience, we went upstairs after nibbling at toast over breakfast to take a snooze, having slept very badly on the makeshift bed the night before. At quarter past ten, 45 minutes before we had to check out there was banging on the door and someone shouted "what time are you leaving?" By this time we were just in hysterics. There was no point in complaining, as what we weren't happy with was EVERYTHING. Basically it screams cheap and
nasty but as the title says, it shuts for good in September and that is the best thing I can say!

The rooms in this B&B were huge! Don't be scared by the outside which looks suspect. The rooms were very large along with the bathrooms. However, numerous updates were needed. Our heater in our rooms was broken and one of other rooms had a broken shower head. But for the price, this place is great. If looking for a high end place then don't stay here, but if looking for a good place to sleep for the night than Clarmont is great. The staff is very nice and the breakfast was okay. However, I'd still recommend this place to people looking for a good value.

Nice B&B in which we stayed for one night. Unfortunately not everything was perfect. Everything could have been a little cleaner (!). Breakfast was okay. Ann is a lovely host with lots of humour. She gave us some good tips for local restaurants. The view at the sea is brilliant and one of a kind. The town itself is very touristy and looks pretty sad in off-season.

We enjoyed our stay in the Clarmont very much. Jacuzzi was brilliant, and the view towards the skerries, Giant's Causeway, West Strand and Atlantice were breath taking. The room was nicely ddecorated if some unusual touches :)

The major dissappointment was the breakfast.

Watered down orange juice, and a cooked breakfast that had no life to it whatsoever. Flat tasting potatoe bread, soda bread and pancake, Over heated leathery b acon and ordinary suasage. Not good enough for £70 for two sharing.

Great potential...but the breakfast was just lazily done...not enough care!

Booked through agency - no refund after quick booking. BIG MISTAKE. £70 As someone say -much beetter quality etc in nice carpeted Ramada and for not many more pay. :We have sea view rooms' yes but only 2 in big BB so not many chance of getting and probablly even more costing. TV - yes but with quaint coat-hanger aeriel, so only 2 channels but, as someone else ssay, not worry for you can hear TV from people above - or maybe beside - and if this not interesting for you, you can listen silly conversations from them. Not want imagine Jacuzz!. Breakfast OK but dry - yesterday? - scramble eggs if you vegetarian. Friendly staff.
But after all saying was big mistke, in future will stay in hotel pay little bit more for much better servicce and not on street where house 2 doors away has fallen down.
