This restaurant really needs a makeover - decor is shabby and dated with no atmosphere. However - I often find that these restaurants serve the best food. Not the case for the Mayflower I'm afraid, which is a pity as the staff were really lovely - very friendly and attentive. I ordered the beef curry (not something that can easily be got wrong I thought) and it was truly dreadful. The sauce was watery, and lacked any real curry flavour. Infact, it tased 'burned'. I was hungry so I ate it and said nothing. When my partner tasted my dinner he said 'congratulations for gettting that down you'. To be fair, his food was really quite tasty - he had salt and chilli chicken which is usually a dry dish, but his came with some kind of sauce over it which was nice. I wouldnt race back here because the food was poor, although, as I say, the staff were lovely which is why I am giving an average rather than poor rating.
