“Will definitely be back”

After getting bored with all the usual Portrush favourites and having read and heard great reports we decided to try it out. Jackman and Pye delivered. Great quality food, reasonable prices and friendly staff. I couldn't complain about any one part of our experience. The paella is amazing, although, as part of their special menu, could easily be half portioned and still be too much! The chicken bang bang was moist, flavourful and the accompanying salad was mouthwateringly spicy, without being unpleasant. All in all.....is giving all the big Portrush names a run for their money!!

“Highly recommended”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

What a pleasure to find a really excellent fish restaurant in an area where there's not really a decent fishmonger's counter left to enable one to do it for oneself. Really substantial portions of superbly cooked food across a sensible but adequate range of choices. The place was really busy the night I was there - and thoroughly deserved to be. I have written one or two lukewarm reports of other restaurants in this area; this one, however is unstintingly enthusiastic.

“Almost Perfect”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

Food and service were excellent however the heavy smell of cooking the minute we entered the restaurant was very noticable. There was even a haze in the dining area. Our clothes were stinking the next morning. What a pity for everything else was perfect.

“Not just for fish - great value and good food - well done”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

New to Portrush this past 6 months this will give the existing well-established businesses a run for their money. Well done to Sean McIlroy and his co-owner.

Visited with my wife in January 2013. Rang to reserve and all they could offer on a Saturday night was 545pm or after 9pm. Went for the earlier one. What a stroke of luck.

Turns out the early-bird offer is available every night they open, rare on a Saturday! It's great value since the food is so good. The deal is as follows:

* Three courses
* Price of your main course is the price for the three
* Cost is £9.99 up to £14.99 for the steak
* Lots of fish dishes but plenty for veggies and carnivores too
* Irish coffee in one of the pudding options - ideal since not everyone wants a dessert.

The whitebait starter was lovely as was the home-made nachos - sort of friend tortillas with tomato and cream salsa.
Mussels main course £13.99 I think, was great.
Paella was very nice but had an (unusual) creamy sauce in the base.

For pudding my wife had the Irish Coffee and I had a cakey thing which was nothing special.

Can't beat this value - just order by 645pm to get the deal. We will certainly be back. Next time with friends or family.

“Excellent”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

We ate at Jackman & Pye last night and I just wanted to add a review here to say that we had an excellent experience from beginning to end. A warm welcome and great service. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere very relaxed. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wasn't tried it.
