“Nestled in a New Zealand Nook...in the North Coast!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2013

After a superb dinner at 55 Degrees North, my girlfriend and I walked the short distance to Kiwi's to sample a few specialty NZ beers. Friends had been recommending this unique little establishment for months. The positive reviews on TripAdvisor made our minds up for us. We arrived late on a Friday night, and were greeted by the owner Kris (Kiwi) and his lovely wife Maria (Italian). They were just getting ready to close up for the night, but invited us to stay for a beer. Kris provided us with their 'menu' of imported NZ lagers and cocktails. We tried the Monteith's West Coast Golden lager - impressive. Kris and Maria joined us for a drink, and before we knew it we were tipsy and deep in conversation about travelling, beer, music and food! We tried the selection of Tui beers, an exceptional cocktail or two, and a complimentary shot of Italian grape spirit (made by Maria's family back in her homeland!). We have never been made to feel so relaxed and at-home in a bar! The bar has a relaxed beach-bar feel, with chill-out seating, surfboards, NZ memorabilia and artistic photograph prints on the wall (taken by Kris and Maria). Free Wifi, coffee, and soft drinks made this establishment an ideal place to hang out in the evenings. We will be back again soon, perhaps on a Wednesday night to check out some live music. Kris and Maria - thank you for hosting us and making our evening a memorable one. Hope to see you again soon...Brendan & Lindsay.

“Relaxing and Enjoyable!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2012

As we hopped around Ireland this local bar stood out as a nice place to wind down a day of sight seeing without all the rush of people or fellow tourists. It was a great recomendation from the owners of the B&B we were at. Music started around 9:30pm and was enjoyable to relax with while having a Guinness or having a great New Zealand ale. The starters were a great treat and we were able to just sit, enjoy, and reflect on the day while planning another.

“Kiwi Hospitality”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 20, 2012

My husband and I just travelled through Ireland for a two week trip. We loved the pub scene. We stumbled upon Kiwi's Portrush accidentally when eating at Don Giovanni's downtstairs (great pizza, by the way!). The owner Chris is very friendly and being from New Zealand he has lots of great and unique beers to try. If none of you have tried New Zealand beer, it's AMAZING and hard to find. I lived in New Zealand for a short while and now live in the States so was so excited to find my favorite beers again. My husband, who has never had New Zealand beer, but is a beer connoiseur, loved them too! He has all the local Irish beers as well as fun, exciting beers to chose from. So if you are a local, world traveller, or miss yourself some Kiwi beer - don't miss out on Kiwi's Portrush!

“Local colour with an NZ twist......perfect!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2011

Kiwis is a friendly local bar with a New Zealand twist serving a great selection of NZ beers and cocktails from around the world. They offer a variety of hot food (the pizzas are very popular) and snacks. You're sure of a warm welcome from hosts Chris & Maria and the chance to meet some locals.
