“Very disappointed!”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

As we arrived more than half an hour before the stated closing time, the buns, cakes, pastries and tray bakes were all being put in plastic boxes, each of which already had stocks inside. How fresh will tomorrow's scones be? I won't find out! As for the coffee, it was weak. On the plus, my father in law thoroughly enjoyed his slice of pavlova.

“Wowwwwwwwwwww”
Reviewed June 15, 2013

Visited this wonderful tearoom in April while staying at the hotel for a Ladies Church Conference.

The place is amazing. The owner, Lynne, and her staff are kind, pleasant, courteous, charming, friendly, they're awesome and, everything is baked from scratch.

While in the area I would recommend Leona's for a morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea, it is a must visit and return to many, many times place.

God's blessings to you all.

“Yum!”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

I was gutted that timings meant I could only visit this place once during our visit to Portrush. I'd say that it's a tea shop that does food rather than a restaurant as such. The cakes were fabulous. Not cheap, no, but not outrageous for very generous portions of delicious home made cakes. The raspberry scones were very good, but the Red Velvet cake was a stunner. Even better, they had a plentiful supply of colouring books and crayons, which kept our three year old busy while we scoffed the goodies. Would happily visit again next time we're passing.

“This is home cooking at its best”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

I have eaten here several times their homemade soups are fantastic and I have rarely seen such an array of breads, scones, cakes, gateaux and pies all so obviously home baked by a professional. This place is a must when you visit Portrush -it's a pity it's so far out of town as you really have to know about it otherwise you might pass it by and they don't have a typical shop front to display their superlative wares. If there are any photos on websites they couldn't do the real thing justice -you just have to go and see it for yourself. It is situated in the Magherabuoy House hotel but seems to be run independently by Leona. They also do full size cakes for parties -the Belgian chocolate cake has to be seen to be believed it is massive and would steal the show at any function. They do cheesecakes, pavlovas, carrot cakes, deep filled lemon meringue pies and apple pies .I am writing this review because I have just reviewed another similar place and realised just how good Leona's is. Credit where it is due.
