Stayed here for a Valentines weekend away-must say for the price it was a very pleasant experience. Friendly staff at reception, newly refurbished, immaculately clean and a perfect location for a base to see some of Antrim. Well deserving of its 3 stars.
Stayed in a superior room-spacious, decorated in a minimalist style that was both warm and welcoming. No mini-bar however.
Breakfast both mornings was pretty average-the staff while under pressure were helpful and very apologetic for any delays. Dinner in the Griffin Restaurant (included in weekend package) was gorgeous!
Overall this hotel is to be commended for the way in which it is run and for the service it provides. Definitely worth checking out.

We stayed here for one night only and quite frankly wonder about some of the previous reviewers on this web site! Did they really stay at the same hotel as we did? My wife and I had a thoroughly pleasant stay in a modern spotlessly clean hotel where the staff, I have to say, thoroughly deserve all the plaudits and praise coming their way. They were superb! The room was excellent and the food in the restaurant first class.

The Saturday night that we stayed was quite busy. There was a local school prom taking place in one of the function rooms so it was a bit boisterous at times in the hotel lobby. However, in all honesty this did not in any way spoil the night for us. In fact it probably all added to the atmosphere of the place.

In conclusion, well done Magherbouy House Hotel and many thanks for a very satisfying stay indeed!

The hotel has recently been refurbished and is in top condition. The staff are polite and helpfull. The bedrooms are spacious, spotless and well equiped, its bathroom was very modern and power shower was brilliant, digital lcd tv on the wall also, only dowmside was the rooms were roasting!! We ate in the bistro and the food was gorgeous, try the chiken and steak meal - yum!! We went to burberies (niteclub next door), and stayed for 20minutes, it stank and is in dire need of bringing up to the stadards of the hotel! The hotels bar is great for a night cap of 6! The ulster fry was great for the morning breakfast

Great stay would recommend!!

My husabnd and I spent three nights here. The rooms were of an excellent standard with very comfy beds and great bath and power shower.

We had a lovely meal in the restaurant, (we had the whole dining room to ourselves). We also ate in the Bistro one night. Although quiet as it was early January it was a nice atmosphere.

The hotel is in an excellent location for visiting Giants Causeway and all the other beautiful areas. The barman recommended the ferry at Macgilligan point as an entry point to Southern Ireland, and it was a great way to tour that area.

All staff were friendly and helful.

This hotel is a lovely converted mansion, and the rooms are spacious (2 double beds, and there were just the two of us), looked newly decorated, and were extremely comfortable, with a flat screen TV. The bathroom was large and modern. The reception staff were extremely helpful, as were the bar staff. The hotel is located quite near the centre of Portrush (£3/4 in a taxi, but not really within walking distance- 20-25min walk)

However, some of the staff are in desperate need of even some basic training. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant the first evening. We ordered a bottle of wine shortly after sitting down, then looked through the menu and ordered our starters and main courses. When the starters arrived, our bottle of wine still hadn't- we asked for it and it arrived just as we finished eating our starters- but it was the wrong wine. Our main courses then arrived- well, mine did. My fiance's steak arrived without side orders or sauce. We decided to skip dessert, strangely enough! Not an enjoyable experience. The food was okay- but not worth the hassle.

At breakfast on the second morning we encountered a very unpleasant member of staff, who hovered around the hot breakfast, but did not make any effort to serve (I only expected this because we had specifically been told not to serve ourselves the morning before), rudely told us that we should serve ourselves when we asked if she could help (there were no plates in view!) didn't warn us that the plates she eventually directed us to were extremely hot, then proceeded to serve breakfast to the man behind us in the queue... hmmm!

However, overall we enjoyed our stay- I would just advise you to avoid the restaurant- eat in the ramore wine bar instead, it's absolutely delicious!
