“What a stay .....”
Reviewed September 5, 2013 via mobile

I must say this is one of the best stayaway's I have had in ages. From check in to check out I could not fault any member of staff or the service in which we received. The food in the restaurant was fab and the breakfast certainly sets you up for a good day of exploring. I hope to be back again in the near future and will definitely be recommending to all my friends and family. Thank you again for making my stay a memorable one

We have been visiting the Ramada portrush and it never fails to disappoint. The staff are very friendly and the rooms always comfortable and clean nad bright and airy.
Great choice at breakfast with plenty of other options for those who want to forego the big fry.
The evening meals are very good value for what you get, the food is of a very high quality and is always freshly cooked. The childrens meals are particulary good because they use fresh ingredients and avoid the proceesed nonsense.

Highly recommended especially for families

Booked this last minute as we were stuck for a room for the night, having looked up the hotel, the pictures seemed suited to the £100 a night price tag. Staff were nice and let us check in 3 hours earlier than expected but to our dismay we found a tiny attic like room with dirty windows and carpet stains across the whole floor. We would expect this for £30 a night, not £100! We went back to reception and voiced our opinions and requested our money back, staff were accommodating but unsympathetic. Money returned we left asap and will not return!

Room Tip: request a room NOT on 3rd floor

Portrush is a busy town during the summer with throngs of people. the hotel is right int he thick of it. The hotel is a somewhat large impersonal place with somewhat small rooms, no air conditioning or fan to deaden the outside noise. However, if you want to be in Portrush, I guess the place is fine. Parking can be an issue if the hotel's lot is full- which is was when we arrived. The food service takes place in a large, noisy, almost cafeteria style place.

Room Tip: If road noise bothers you (although you may have a view of the sea) then ask for a room on the back...

This review is for the restaurant in the Ramada Hotel, we are local so didn't stay in the hotel. We ended up in the Ramada because we couldn't get in anywhere else we wanted to go. Previous bad experiences in this restaurant meant it wasn't top of our list but we were prepared to give it another go - and we were hungry.

Firstly, I have to say the service was excellent - the waiting staff were attentive, polite and professional but also friendly. Everything you would expect in a good restaurant.
The food however, was appalling, some of the worst food I've eaten in a very long time. I ordered the gammon steak and asked for a side order of a fried egg, this was off menu but the waiter said he would ask the chef. Given that this hotel serves breakfast I didn't think this would be a big ask. The gammon that arrived was the size of a bacon chop and covered in a massive portion of fat laden tobacco onions - no egg. It was really salty and the accompanying chips were grey and soggy. The gravy was brown gloop and tasted of absolutely nothing.

This really set the scene for the rest of the meal. We also ordered salmon and cod pasta in a parmesan cream sauce, it was stodgy, completely tastless and clumped together on the plate in one solid mass. Chicken goujons were a child's sized portion, contained only 4 goujons but cost over £10, they were obviously frozen and bought in. Again, tasted of nothing and the chips were awful.

We didn't bother to complain - had we been offered replacement meals they wouldn't have been any better becuase the cooking was only part of the problem, cheap ingredients were the biggest issue. 3 main courses, 2 puddings and a glass of wine cost over £60 so at more than £20 each it was very expensive for what we got.
Next time I'll make sure I book Jackman & Pye in plenty of time or just stay at home and cook. A microwaved ready meal would taste better than what the Ramada served. It pains me to be so negative but the food was simply the worst I've been served in a very long time.

Can empathise with last reviewer. Our family room was a good size and had a great view out the front. However the room had no air conditioning and at night was really humid and it was only 18 degrees outside. Hard to sleep.

Location great and staff friendly. Breakfast was fresh and tasty. Price for a family room was 120£.

This is a gud base for exploring the North Coast. It's friendly and if the price is right well worth it. But careful if staying in high summer, those rooms cud be hard to sleep in at night.

good size rooms but heat comes on for no reason in middle of the night which is very uncomfortable. The breakfast menu isnt that great esp if people our on a healty eating plan 2 fruits to choose from plus they wouldnt make an omlett r poached eggs and they only yous full fat butter n milk. I think with a 3 star rating they could look into doing something about it.
