“A special place”
Reviewed June 15, 2014 via mobile

Everything you could want and more in guesthouse accommodation. Its intimate location is only a mile and a bit out of Portrush but with the beautiful gardens you get the country feel. Sharon's attention to detail really made it for me, from little jars of chocolates to handmade products and bottled water in the rooms and the breakfast each morning was really something, from locally sourced meat products to homemade breads it really gives a homely feel. Sharon and Dave took the time to know us and recommend eateries even giving us a lift to them!
We stayed in the garden room which was devine but from the photos I would have happily stayed in any of the rooms, thanks again and we will be returning.

The accommodations were very nice. The breakfast was excellent. But the main attraction was Sharon. She treated us magnificently. Getting to know local folks is priceless. Very convenient to Portrush golf.

Thank you for this very nice review, but I firmly believe our fantastic golf courses and the stunning North Coast are the main attractions. Saying that I'm happy to accept your kind compliment! Hope to see you back at Shola on your next golfing trip to Ireland.

A wonderful warm and welcoming place to spend a few days, or more. Thoughtfulness prevails throughout the house, and gardens, which are a delight to sit in. Wonderful breakfasts, including homemade bread..both white and brown warm from the over. A great place for a group holiday...we were 4 couples who took all of the 4 beautiful bedrooms, and very much enjoyed the lovely sitting room set aside for guests, and the gardens for afternoon tea.

We stayed at the Shola Coach House during our five day trip through Northern Ireland/Ireland. I choose Shola from it's high reviews and ratings and it lived up to each and everyone of them. What a beautiful place. Straight out of Architectural Digest -- this renovated gatehouse is as perfect in every way as were our hosts Sharon and Dave. We had the lovely "Garden room" newly created and privately located to the rear of the main house in the gorgeous backyard. Waking up to its stunning wrap around views, we would like to live there forever! The big King bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in. Their home is genuinely warm and inviting, decorated beautifully and a true Irish dream location. Our breakfast cooked by chef Dave, was delicious and filling, and Sharon had a wealth of knowledge of the area and was beyond lovely. (Being with them was like visiting old familiar friends!). Do not miss staying at Shola if you are planning to visit the local sights (Giant's Causeway, The Rope Bridge, Dunluce Castle) It made our trip just PERFECT! (Side note -- while we were there Dave and Sharon won a tourism award for their B&B which they have only been running for about a year, Well deserved and well earned!!! Bravo!)

Room Tip: The Garden Room is GORGEOUS, and if you like privacy, is set away from the main house.

Shola Coach House is rated number 1 in Portrush. I firmly believe it should be rated number 1 in Ireland. My wife and I had such a wonderful time during our two nights there. Sharon is a terrific host. She even drove us into town so we didn't have to worry about finding a parking space for dinner. Plus I didn't have to worry about drinking and driving! Our room was quiet and spacious and had a great soaking tub. David makes a wonderful breakfast, you won't go away hungry. I highly recommend you stay here when you visit the area.

Room Tip: From what I've seen, all the rooms are good.

We stayed with Sharon and Dave in Shola last week. We had a most enjoyable stay. Sharon and Dave are terrific hosts who have created a beautiful, warm, comfortable "home from home" for their guests. Our room (Lavender) was spacious, very well decorated and most importantly for us had an extremely comfortable bed, which Sharon informed us was hand made locally (we will be ordering one of their mattresses for our home!!!). Breakfast was delicious, with home made brown bread (by Sharon) and home made white bread (by Dave!!). Nothing was too much trouble and we are really looking forward to our next trip to the North Coast and staying in Shola again.
