“anniversary bliss”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

Sayed here for our 1st wedding anniversary. were greeted in our room by a card from the staff and a beautiful dessert plate. View from the room over the golf course was a lovely change from busy city centre traffic. Food was lovely steak and lamb cooked to perfection. I understand people say its expensive but it is the Hilton after all not a premier inn. You pay for quality. Staff were fab always polite and friendly. Hubby loved the golf course and spa is nice way to spend the day.

Room Tip: upgrade for a golf course view

The first time we stayed here it was perfect and really enjoyed our stay but this time I was not just as impressed. Our room was not available when we checked in after 3pm and had to wait for it. The remote control for the tv did not work so we had great difficulty getting the tv to work. Sunday carvery was very poor, the food was tasteless and the meat was tough, it was not worth the price paid, it mas more like overcooked canteen dinner.
After having such a good time on our first visit we were definitely disappointed this time, i just hope that they are not letting their standards slip.
Don't know if I would go back or not.

The good bits:

Lovely room, well designed and decorated, all mod cons, friendly staff and beautiful setting with the golf course, lake (not a golf fan but looks nice), peaceful even on a bank holiday wekend.

Spa & pool - again superb, friendly staff in the spa, pool good temp, although a bit chlorienely!

The bad bits:

Price of food & drink - wine prices prohibitive - £6 - £8 per glass (slightly cheaper by room service - how does that work room service usually more expensive?), bottle costs over £20 for house wine!!! Which is a shame as the bar and brassierie looked lovely. Food - really expensive cheapest meal was a burger at £13 - again really too expensive for a hotel of this style.

WiFi - stupidly expensive, not necessary to heap up the prices to make an extra buck.

Outdoor bins in the car parks / public areas, I know this is silly but, we have dogs (came over for the CH Dog Show), no bins outside anywhere - we disposed of waste correctly taking it around to the main hotel wheelie bins, but some didn't - could be easily rectified!

Would love to stay again, but def. bring your own wine & picnic as the prices just high - shame a let down on a lovely hotel.

Room Tip: All nice - but over the golf course for ultimate view!

My wife and I said at the hotel for a weekend break it was our first time at the hotel. The hotel is situated 20 mins from belfast and there is a bus just up the road.our room was lovely and had everything we needed. The bar was over priced and the staff stood around chatting while I repeatedly went to the bar for drink. We ate in the restaurant the first night and to be honest wouldnt eat in it again starter portions were tiny and the soup was like water, i had a steak for main course which was over cooked tough and cool, my wife had the chicken which was nothing special for the price, we ordered sides and eventually got them half way through our meal. Dessert was basic definately not home made. Breakfast had a great selection but was all deep fried but ok. On a plus the restaurant staff were very nice and helpful even at breakfast when very busy. Didnt play golf unfortunately but used the gym and pool which was great. Overall good hotel in beautiful grounds but food really let it down

check in is listed as 3pm, we arrived at 4pm, but one room was not ready untill 5pm. a round of complimentary drinks went some way to compensate.
3 of the group were pleased to find that the rooms alocated were 'smoking', however on arrival they were dissapointed to be told they were unavailable, ..... another round of complimentry drinks went some way to compensate. smokers insisted that drinks were taken on the terrace/patio, but, no door handles to allow us back inside.
rooms are a good size and clean, sofa and chair etc. but only one bath towel, and only one set of shower condiments.
evening meal was booked as part of a half board package, good choice, good quality, good quantity, but no weight watcher option, also too many of the options had surcharges, ok if you order a steak, but not for the sauce, or the cheese board.
breakfast was buffet style, fruit, cold meats, cheese, crossants, etc. hot breakfast, ie. bacon, sausage, egg, mushrooms, beans, hash browns, potato bread, porridge, all excellent, but the orange juce was awful.and self service toaster was woeful, 5 mins. to warm up some bread. and only one tea spoon per table.
Staff were helpful, cheerful, efficient, and friendly. although the waiting staff were very young, probably all back to school on Monday.
this hotel is ok. not special!
ok for a stop over on route to the airport, or for a conference, but not for a special anniversary, there is a pool, a golf course, a health suite, a hair dresser, a resturant, but it's not special.
not quite a 4 star.

Have stayed a few times and really like the place. The staff are helpful and friendly, Good pool and facilities and what looks like a good golf course although I've not yet managed to play it yet.

Bedrooms are roomy and comfortable and the restaurant food is OK. Breakfast really good with plenty choice of hot and cold.

Mobile phone signal is a hit or miss but depends on room or location.

We booked the Hilton to check the facilities for a potential wedding venue...it defo has the wow factor!! As soon as u step into reception you are greeted with the friendly reception staff!

We were giving the choice of a smoking or non smoking room which my fiance was delighted with...got a smoking room and a very big plus got to our room and had a balcony over looking the golf course! The views were outstanding and the fact the sun was shining it was a bonus! We had a deluxe room and couldn't have been any happier with the room...was very spacious!!

We ate lunch and dinner in the hotel and could not fault the food at all! Intact was great value for money and the food was delicious!!

After arriving back to our hotel room..we were greeted with fruit plate from the hotel manager and thought it was a really nice gesture!!

We tried out the leisure facilities...we got there at an excellent time as the pool was near empty! Pool was a lil cold but didn't bother us...Jacuzzi was fantastic along with steam and sauna!!

We went for breakfast...another bonus was breakfast was served until 11 on a Sunday...breakfast had loads to choose from and was lovely!

Would defo recommend this hotel and would go back!!
