Hotel is lovely, staff very friendly.Need a car as it is quite remote. There is no lift.Food was very good.we were on a" Living Social" 2 night offer-and found the only thing to complain about was the Bed.It was very old, springs comming through the matress.BUT the room was very clean,Hotel looks like its had a make, over pity they did,nt buy new beds.Bar has a pinano and is very relaxing, looks great for a wedding venue.

We had lunch in the grill bar today and were quite disappointed. We have eaten here quite a few times before but found that the food, service and decor have gone downhill. The general look of the place is that it is shabby and tired and needs a complete overhaul. Service was very slow and the food was just ok. It just seemed very disorganised.
We would be reluctant to return and think we''ll stick with the trusty Rosspark in future for Sunday lunch.

We used to visit the hotel for the Sunday carvery quite often and loved the place. We haven't been for maybe two years and were surprised and disappointed with our visit. The first thing we noticed was the state of the carpets. It was an effort not to catch my heels in the torn bits. The restrooms need a good clean and a plumber. The wooden floor in the restaurant needs brushed as there had obviously been a broken glass because pieces of it were everywhere. Our table was to the edge of the floor and you could see from the dirt and grease that the whole place needs a good clean. I know times are hard but this gives such a bad impression and how much would it cost to give it a good scrub? The food had plenty of variety though the potatoes were not hot. In all the meal did not make up for all of the above and we will not be back.

Me and my fiance booked into the Templeton hotel for 2 nights as a birthday treat for myself and to also check out the venue for our wedding!...the staff were very helpful and friendly!

We were in room 106 and absolutely loved our room, loads of space and was cleaned every day with fresh towels!....

The staff were happy enough to show us the room while they were setting up for a wedding on both days and I was blown away and loved the set up, decor and loved the water wells throughout the hotel! .... the bar staff in the main bar were really friendly and had good craic with them!

We had breakfast on both mornings and had loads to choose from...although it wasn't buffet you were served with full fry along with cereal etc! It was lovely and was defo enough for breakfast where as buffets are mostly waste of money and waste of foods! I would defo recommende this hotel...only thing I would love to see would be leisure facilities as could see the hotel blooming from this...but I booked it knowing there was no facilities and still loved our break away!!...I look forward to the wedding fayre on Sunday 23 September

I recently celebrated my 30th Birthday at the Templeton Hotel. There was 19 of us having a meal in the Grill Room. The service was excellent, our meals arrived promptly, and the food was lovely; the portions were a good size and there was plenty of variety in the menu to suit all tastes. The staff were very attentive, and were always checking to see if we were ok or if we needed any drinks. It was the first time I had dined in the grill room and I found it was a nice, relaxed place to eat and spend time with my friends. After our meal, we continued our evening in the bar which had live music.
I thoroughly enjoyed my evening there, and so did my friends, and we plan to have another night out there again soon.

We popped in for a light lunch on our way to an appointment, and we were directed into the lounge area, nice room but with greasy dirty stained seats and our table looked clean on appearance but was sticky to touch.
We approached the bar and asked to order lunch, and we're informed that someone would be with us. We sat for 15 minutes and watched staff come and go and showed that they had an attitude that we didn't exist. After trying to get attention from a member of staff and were ignored, we then asked another member if someone could PLEASE take our order. Ten minutes later, we were alerted by an untidily put together male waiter. Who asked "right, what do you want?"
Totally stunned we all looked at each other, and finally asked, what was the soup of the day? To which he shrugged his shoulders and said... "I don't even know".
Again stunned, we quickly changed our order to get sighs and huffs from him.
After a lengthy wait, our tea was served, with stained cups and teapot. Then waited a further 20 minutes for our order. By this time our tea was cold and we had no drinks.
When our order arrived, mine was completely wrong, but to be honest, at this stage, already late for our appointment I wasn't going to complain and go through the same unprofessional ignorance again.

After leaving most of our cold soggy toasties, and wrongly ordered sandwich, we were leaving and proceeded to the washrooms. Only to find yet again, facilities that were uncared for, dirty grimy and greasy.

Having chosen to go to a hotel, rather than a cafe, we were prepared to pay a higher price for a better quality service and food. We came away, wishing we had gone to lesser surroundings. And to be honest, feeling very disappointed in the establishment.

Clearly in today's climate, prices are failing to meet more and more to the service.

Not only will we not recommend this place, we will let it be known how run-down this once lovely place has become and how rude the staff were.

As previously described, shabby, dirty and staff who would rather be spending their money that earning it.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on TripAdvisor. I was sorry to learn that your visit was so disappointing and although we had a very changeable staff in the month of August, it is no excuse for poor service. We are continually re training and your comments certainly have helped direct us to an area that has raised concern. We would also like to apologise for the bad repair of our lounge carpet and seating. This is a project that we have been trying to complete for a year and one which is only coming into action this November 2012, when we are replacing the carpet and re covering all the furniture. We hope that you will call in the future to give us a second chance.
