Owner description: The Causeway Coastal Route is a designated scenic tourist drive around the coast of Northern Ireland between the cities of Belfast and Londonderry. The route follows the coast and takes you to several major tourist attractions along the way including The Giant's Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, Dunluce Castle, The Old Bushmills Whiskey Distillery and the Glens of Antrim. There are also nine scenic loop roads that run off the main Coastal Route. These are: Islandmagee, Slemish Mountain, Glenariff, Glendun, Torr Road, Glenshesk, Bann Valley, Binevenagh Mountain and the Roe Vally. One of these (Torr Scenic Road)is quite narrow so do be careful if your not used to our small roads, one tip is to pull in your wing mirrors on the Torr Road.

Loads of lovely little towns along the coast. Rathlin island off shore, and of course Bushmills for a whisky stop along the way. Take your time and enjoy yourself. Watch out for cyclists, who seem to enjoy the route equally.

Drive all the way from Belfast to Bushmills on this amazing road... You will never forget! It's gorgeous! Just be careful of... all the sheep on the road ;)

My husband and I took a day tour from Belfast that went along the Coastal Causeway. We'd been traveling around the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland for about a week and the weather had been flawless. Then, on the day we drove the Coastal Causeway, it rained nonstop and winds were at 60 mph. Despite this, the Causeway Coastal Route was simply beautiful. It was one of the most scenic drives I've ever been on -- and I used to live in the American West, which has many, many gorgeous drives.

The villages you encounter along the drive are idyllic and picturesque. The route is well-marked and easy to follow. It does meander, but it does not divert from the coast. You can easily make the drive from and back to Belfast in one day, which is what we did. But, to be honest, if we make it back to the Causeway Coastal Route, we will spend a night in one of the small towns along the way.

As much as I loved the Causeway Coastal Route, I almost hate to write this review. When we were there in late September, we felt almost as if we had the whole route to ourselves. I fear that once word truly gets out about how beautiful Northern Ireland is, the crowds will soon follow and spoil the tranquility of this special place. So, go now, before the masses discover it!

This drive takes you through the Glens of Antrim which are well known in many Irish Legends. We went on a day where the sun was shining through the clouds and I can definitely feel the magical feeling. Highly recommended.
