Owner description: The Causeway Coastal Route is a designated scenic tourist drive around the coast of Northern Ireland between the cities of Belfast and Londonderry. The route follows the coast and takes you to several major tourist attractions along the way including The Giant's Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, Dunluce Castle, The Old Bushmills Whiskey Distillery and the Glens of Antrim. There are also nine scenic loop roads that run off the main Coastal Route. These are: Islandmagee, Slemish Mountain, Glenariff, Glendun, Torr Road, Glenshesk, Bann Valley, Binevenagh Mountain and the Roe Vally. One of these (Torr Scenic Road)is quite narrow so do be careful if your not used to our small roads, one tip is to pull in your wing mirrors on the Torr Road.

“A Breathtaking Drive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2012

Truly revealing the "Emerald Isle", this narrow track, if you're driving on the "wrong side" of the road, is not for the faint of heart. And focusing on the road is difficult when around every bend there's another incredible vista opening before you! What for cyclists, and be patient!

“Awe at the beauty of the Emerald island”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

I like to drive. And I don't mean sitting in the car on a highway. I like the 'open road', the swirving and curbing, the gear changing, the feeling of putting a fourwheeled vehicle through twists and turns of tarmac. But I especially love it when the places you go through are scenic. If you feel the same way about travelling, then this is your trip: the coastal road (the entire coastal road on the north-west coast of Ireland) is one of truly natural beauty. Stunning coastlines, picturesque villages and awesome nature all in a one day trek... It doesn't get much better than this.
The road is littered with places that compel to make a stop and enjoy the view (be it a nature walk, a visit to a village or just to admire the coast and cliffs). Top that with pubs where you can have a refreshment or a bite to eat (food and drinks are another favorite and its quality is to be recommended throughout Ireland) and what more could you want... Well I guess you're not in the best place to work on a tan, but then that's not why you came here in the first place is it? Definately take the drive, it is more than worth the time. Oh, I would advise this for the 'confident driver'. If you're used to drive 6 lane wide, straight roads, you're in for a bit of shock! But what's the fun in that.

“Wonderful Scenery”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2012

I have driven this route quite a few times, and my heart still soars at the sight of all the rolling fields, cliffs, inlets and tucked away whitewashed houses along the sea. It is beautiful, pure and simple.
As most things, it is best on a clear sunny day, when the blue skies mirror the sea, but it's worth the drive if it's grey and rainy too.
The roads are narrow and windy, so you want to have plenty of time to drive slow, and stop where you want to have a better look at the view.
There are several villages along the way where you can stop for something to eat.

If you are visiting the Giant's Causeway, make sure you take this route, as it is as much of an experience as the Causeway itself.
