“Great atmosphere, excellent food but somewhat overpriced”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

I agree, The Bushmills Inn is a really very special place to stay. Full of history. Ideally located for golfers and to visit the Giant's Causeway and many other things.
We had a good dining experience and the breakfasts were good.
But the price/quality balance is not OK.
In my opinion it's overpriced.
For the price we payed the bathroom is not of a high standard and the food is too expensive.

The menu is varied, the food is good but not great, although we have never had a bad meal in the Inn. The service was efficient and v. good, Abigail was particularly helpful and friendly. However, the prices are just a little too high, Distillers Arms (Tartine) at the top of the Town is better priced with possibly better food. Although we enjoy eating at the Inn, we would tend to choose it down our list mainly because of its poor value for money which is unfortunate as the atmosphere and ambience is great. Pity really, I would like to eat there more ofter.

Very friendly people at the reception as well as in the restaurant. Room was a beauty, got nearly everything one needs. Lots of space. Nice writing desk. Comfortable bed. Only the ironing wouldnot work. The breakfast was first class. Lots of choice of cereals etc. A bit pricy but really worth it.

Room Tip: Nr 222 nice classic furnishment and cosy

The setting and place itself is lovely. However our experience was not. The service was pretty poor and it was not good value for money. The sandwich which was served was very mean and also the chips that come in a paper cone with the fish. Other meals such as the Focaccia Bread was over priced for what was on the plate. The day menu was a lot to be desired with very little choice worth talking about. Just as well enough visiting tourists to keep this place going, as we would not go back and we certainly would not recommend it to anyone!

Very good and worth the (high) price.
Two small gripes.
1. The room was very dimly lit. Don't go there on business and try and work in it.
2. The bath filled incredibly slowly. Fortunately the shower was fine !

Other than that it was excellent. Good food, attentive staff ( who seemed to all be local) . Quite a lot of American golfers , so helpful If you like loud trousers (and voices!)

Very nice hotel. Great food both breakfast and dinner. Generally good service. Nice rooms, but pretty extortionate prices especially for the suites. Certainly not good value for money but nice for a special occasion. Full of American golfers so there is obviously high demand for rooms and therefore absolutely zero negotiation on price. Probably wouldn't go back at these prices. £288 for a suite which was only marginally better than the standard rooms. Cheaper for a top hotel in Geneva and New York and that's saying something! Also watch out for the smell from the fields behind at certain times of the day when the farmers are spreading. Certainly not particularly appealing!

From arrival to departure we were impressed with the standard of staff, food and atmosphere. The rooms have character and it was comfortable with the amenities. The only gripe was the wireless which worked on and off. The restaurant which serves all meals, the food was excellent and a good variety and the staff were always attentive and friendly. A good choice to stay if you need a few days break in the North Coast.
