“Sunday lunch”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

We had a lovely lunch in the Bentra the only problem was the serve was a little slow , though we weren't in that much of a hurry. Hopefully it was just a bad day
Other than that the food was lovely

“Love The Honey & Chilli Chicken!”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

We call here for a family treat and you can enjoy views across the golf course. I love to sit in the conservatory part and watch the sunset. Worth a visit.

“Disaster and recovery”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

I'll tell you about two different visits. A few days ago something went terribly wrong. Our meals took over 40 minutes to appear. Some items were a bit dried out, some were underdone, some overdone. We've eaten here many times and the food is reliably very good, so this was a first. They knew our food wasn't up to scratch, so they took both meals off the bill. That was appropriate, but we'd hoped for a good meal out. Our server was very apologetic.
Tonight four of us were back. The meals were very good. The "early bird" menu has a range of excellent choices for only £7. One of us loved the pork - 2 slices with stuffing between, plus delicious carrots and broccoli. There were too many mushrooms in the free side order to finish, but that's a good problem to have. The other meals were the southern fried chicken. It was a nice piece of chicken, breast flattened butterfly-style. It had a crispy dry coating. Nice garnish of salad dressing, sweetcorn, red onion and rocket. The sauteed potatoes were cubes, good, not greasy. A vegetable side order was also too generous to finish. The chicken curry was good, but not quite enough of a meal - but other people's unfinished side orders solved that problem. The chocolate pudding dessert was great.
(The 3 out of 5 score for this review kind of averages out the one-star disaster night with tonight's very satisfactory five-star return to normal service.)

“Will definitely return to the Bentra!”
Reviewed April 3, 2013 via mobile

Myself and family had a lunch at The Bentra Bistro over the Easter break and I have to say that it is the nicest meal I have had in and around the Carrickfergus area. The staff were so helpful and pleasant to deal with, good quick service and lovely decor and atmosphere within the place. Gave food 4 out of 5 and not 5 because I ordered the Cajun Chicken Burger but there was nothing Cajun about it! It was served in what tasted like mixed herbs and would have been nicer with a bit of spice to give it more flavour. The homemade chips were to die for! We will definitely be back for a return journey. Thank you to the staff in particular for such an enjoyable lunch :)
