There isn't much to Carrickfergus to be honest, but they have made a really nice job of the marina. Some very nice bars and places to get food and a nice little walk out along the pier. You could just park up and put and afternoon in enjoying the scenery.

Lovely marina restricted to those who own the boats. No-one is allowed access unless accompanied by an owner.

This is such a lovely marina with first class facilities - showers/laundry/toilets/security. Everything is well maintained and extremely clean. When we stayed there on our boat, they offered a stay of 2 nights, and get the third night free. It is best to radio ahead for availability, but we have never had any trouble getting a berth on our 2 visits here.

The pontoons are in good order and the visitor's pontoon on the hammerhead is a good size with electricity provided.

There is a lovely pub on the quayside which serves food and directly opposite the marina - lovely new flats enclose the whole area - across the road is a fabulous american diner, cinema, pizza hut and more.....The ice cream floats in the diner are to die for and so is the food (especially if you are hungry - their portions are humungous).

Carrickfergus Castle which is a short walk around the bay, is a good afternoon out and the town is a lovely walk along the front with nice pubs, music and restaurants there.

A lovely boating destination and the American Diner is a must!
