“We fell in love with this little Inn!”
Reviewed July 10, 2011

This is really a pub with rooms, but with the welcome and manner of owners and staff alike, this is a lovely place to stay. This inn has a mixture of renovated, beautiful rooms, and rather shabby rooms in need of an update. But I gather they are redoing them all on a rolling programme. We were first offered a room with a view of a brick wall, but in all fairness to the owners we were moved immediately to a different room on request. Breakfast is good here, with the waitress entertaining everyone interested with tales of the history of the hotel, and she had us all gripped to our seats with some of her stories of ghostly goings on!! The dining room for dinner is so cosy and beautifully furnished, and the food is absolutely superb. I lovely stay.

Room Tip: Room 28 looks into a wall. No view.

We went to Dobbins on a Groupon deal and were pleasantly surprised by our lovely room which appeared to have been recently refurbished. It was clean and fresh and very comfortable. The food was very good tasty and quite big portions. Our friends got the haunted room but alas Maud did not put in an appearance. The staff were friendly and helpful and we had a great time

We are just back from a great evening spent in the hotel above.
We got a deal on Groupon which was a bargain.
We stayed one night and had an evening meal and breakfast the next morning.
The receptionist, and other staff could not have been more helpful.
The food was excellent, the room just the right size.
We had a good nights sleep and had a lovely full Norn Ironed breakfast the next day.
All in all a great wee oldie worldie hotel with attentive and courteous staff.

Arrived Saturday around 4.oopm, to be told our room was number 14, well I am sure that room should have been a store cupboard and at the last minute through a bed in there, the few was and old peeling roof and things dumped there, went down for "dinner" we were quite sure the person who cooks there (they do not deserve the word chef) ran down to iceland and got me a chicken breast in breadcrumbs and then cremated it for good measure, went back up to room and the heat would have killed you, no window up there and outside the door they kept old broken furniture, so was scared to keep the door open in case anything was living in the old chairs, if we had not have had a drink we would have drove home.

The breakfast in the morning worst I have ever had, really cheap bacon, sausage and the egg was done to a crisp.
We eat out at least 2 times per week, usually go away at least once a month, this was the worst place I have ever been in home and abroad!!

Dear Guest, I was utterly surprised to read your comments. Our bedrooms, due to nature of the historical building it is, come in many shapes and sizes. The room you refer to, has always been a bedroom, equipped with double bed and all expected facilities for a hotel. The view I would agree is not great, but we are in a town centre and surrounded by other buildings.
Your comment on the evening food & breakfast was also a surprise as all our meat is locally sourced and for that very reason a higher quality than " brand" produce.
I am very disappointed that you did not enjoy your time with us, should you wish to discuss anything further with me, please feel free to contact me direcly at the hotel.
Kind Regards
