A superb castle.A party of one group of attackers were captured and eaten by the defenders of the castle. The ancient menu on display is also most interesting.Definitely well worth a visit and its complete as opposed to most other castles.

It was Sunday, it was slighly off season, it was rainy, so there were not many people about. That made our self-guided tour even more leisurely and pleasant. There is a minimal charge to walk through or take the guided tour. This castle is not like many castles found in Ireland as a whole. It is definitely a defensive sea structure. There are display statues here and there from different eras the castle was fortified. One may wander the entire castle and not get bored. There are placards to read as you go and once on top of the ramparts the veiws are quite something. Take your camera. Out front is a statue of King William which was an amusing delight to us. The size of his hat was much bigger than his diminutive self.

Cheap entrance prices and guided tours of the castle are held throughout the week (need to check times). A great way to spend awhile learning a little about Irish history.

Very well preserved castle in a stunning setting. Statues of soldiers and murals of common activities help to bring the history to life, especially for youngsters. Definitely recommended!
