“Warm and welcoming environment”
Reviewed October 3, 2011

I stayed at this B&B when visiting Northern Ireland. This quiet B&B is located near shops, trains and buses for easy access to Carrickfergus, Belfast and beyond. I found my room to be exceptionaly clean and tidy with a good sized en-suite. However the host, Shirley made this property into a very warm and genuinely welcoming place to stay. Shirley always has a smile on her face and nothing is too much bother for her. The room was always immacculate when I returned from a day out with fresh towels. Shirley made the most wonderful cooked breafasts in the mornings, giving me something substantial to start my day with. I cannot recommend this B&B highly enough and intend to return when I am next in Northern Ireland.

Room Tip: My room was a twin with ensuite and even thopugh facing the road was a very quiet room.

The B&B is on the main road but it was quiet in room 4 facing the rear. We had a tiny room containing a toilet and basin off our bedroom (ensuite) , while the shower with clear sides was in the bedroom. The shower wasn't hot enough so I had to give up washing my hair and we had quick showers. The beds and breakfast were good. Off street parking was provided.

Room Tip: Room 4 had a double and twin bed. It was an ensuite room but the shower was IN the bedroom.

Thank you for your review and sorry to hear you were not completely satisfied with your stay with us.
In response to your comment regarding the shower - we can only say that we have been extremely busy all summer and on that morning there must have been a slightly higher demand for hot water, which we thought we had enough of!! Had you mentioned to us at the time, we could have rightified the problem in minutes with an additional water boost by means of the immersion heater! The shower has just recently been added to the room as previously it only consisted of toilet and hand-wash basin (ensuite), but in order to improve facilities for our guests, we felt that adding a shower would be beneficial, and all but one side of shower next to wall has modesty glass.
The room is designed for a family which consists of a king-size bed and single bed with adequate space between each! We can only apologise if you felt this room was not big enough for you. For our modest charge, we believe we offer (with a full Irish breakfast included) very good value for money.

My wife, granddaughter and I have just returned from a 5 night stay at the Loughside. The Loughside was perfect - the room was very comfortable with all the facilities one would require. The breakfasts were superb - always cheerfully presented by Shirley. She went out of her way to provide special treats for our 4 year old granddaughter. The Loughside is perfectly situated for visits to Carrickfergus, Whitehead, Belfast and many other places. I can't praise the place highly enough and we shall be back.

Quiet location within easy reach of the town centre,
A visit to the very interesting castle should not be missed.
A choice of town centre restaurants available besides possibilities on the road to town . The Windrose on the harbour side is good value with freshly cooked food..

The B&B is about a 15 min walk from Carrickfergus.

The en-suite room was spotless, and a decent size.

Breakfast was perfect, also it was served earlier than advertised to fit in with my travel plans.

Overall, I was very impressed with Loughside and look forward toreturning in the future.

Thank you Shirley!
