“Educational Tour”
Reviewed September 1, 2012

I dont normally like guided tours of Country Houses, but this one was exceptional. The guide knew the house when it was still a private home and had lots of anecdotes about the family who lived there. You get to see about 8 rooms and the tour takes about 50 minutes. You can take photos in the house without flash. I would certainly recommend a visit.

“Mansion and grounds”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

Lovely place to come for a walk and during the summer season it is also possible to have coffee etc; there are extensive grounds and paths along the river blackwater and all in all it is a photographers dream.

“A Hidden Gem”
Reviewed August 17, 2012

The Argory is an absolute gem! There are lots of interesting walks in the grounds to suit everyone - from those who want a short ramble to those who want a long walk. It has a wide range of beautiful vews from lovely gardens to a lazy river.
The house not as grandiose as the likes of Castleward or Mount Stewart but the inside more than makes up for that. It is a treasure trove of beautiful artifacts, but at the same time feels like a real home . Unlike some of the grander houses, such as Castleward, it does not feel like a sterile place. One can imagine the last owner has just stepped outside for a minute.
The outbuldings around the house make it a very pleasant place to explore. There is a small room for children to explore nautical things while parents can find out about the HMS Birkenhead and it sinking off The Cape of Good Hope..
The cafe and shops fit in well in the courtyard as well.
We found this to be the most interesting of all the NT houses in N.Ireland
Like other NT properties the signage on walks is poor. A simple hand out showing different walks would be helpful and considering the entrance fees it should be included free.
