“Perfect Wedding Venue”
Reviewed February 22, 2014

We cannot praise the Glenavon House Hotel highly enough. We chose this hotel as our wedding venue as from our first meeting with James, the function manager, we felt at ease and knew we could have the wedding we wanted. We also had our ceremony at the hotel, the room was beautiful and everything went so smoothly.

The food at the reception was of high quality, we had previously eaten in the restaurant on a few occasions and the food at our wedding reception was equally as good.

The Glenavon staff manage to create a very relaxed friendly atmosphere whilst offering a 5 star professional service. Every request in the run up to our wedding and during our stay was catered for and all our guests commented on how comfortable their stay was.

Thanks to James and the Glenavon staff for making our wedding a perfect day!!

Disliked this hotel a lot...after attending a recent wedding in it I shall not be back.

1.drinks are too expensive.
2. The dance floor was filthy....hire a cleaner to clean/mop it properly...everything was bogging.
3. The food was minimal....the buffet was v.unsatisfactory.
The breakfast in itself yummy..rooms need refurbished all the same...not atall modern.

Not impressed overall

Won't be back in a rush unless I have too.

Room Tip: Go to a b&b

Dear Pixie D

We were very disappointed to learn of your dissatisfaction following your visit last year to the hotel.

I was surprised at your comment about the rooms needing refurbishment / modernised as they have all just recently been refurbished (May 2013) Our reviews are generally very positive about the rooms but I presume it all a matter of opinion.

The dance-floors are washed after each and every function. However if you think about it with people walking over the floor constantly, including people going in and out to the smoking area or maybe just for a breath of fresh air, you would expect a certain amount of dirt transferred from shoe to floor and vice versa as is the norm with all surfaces which we walk on. This is why we wash the floor after each use. I don’t think it is any different to what most of us experience on a daily basis in our homes albeit the footfall in the hotel and its’ function rooms would be considerably greater.

The drinks in the hotel are priced in line with similar hotels. Obviously these prices are more expensive than the likes of Asda / Tesco – again really all depends on what your comparator is.

I am very sorry to learn that you considered “The food was minimal....the buffet was v.unsatisfactory” but we can only provide what the Bride and Groom are prepared to pay for and some people have to work to a very tight budget.

I am glad to hear that you enjoyed a “yummy breakfast.”

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel.

Yours faithfully,

Paula Wilson

This was a lovely hotel with front desk and restaurant staff who were very friendly and helpful- one of the friendliest of my trip to Northern Ireland! The front desk staff helped me with walking directions and did it all with smiles.

The food was good, with excellent service. The room was spotless and lovely. Would recommend this hotel highly!

Dear DanT

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel following your recent stay.

We are delighted that you were happy with all aspects of your stay including the large comfortable bedroom and the very good breakfast!

The front desk staff in particular are very pleased that you acknowledged their friendliness and helpfulness - it's always a great boost!

Your very useful tip regarding the location of the room away from the nightclub is already covered by the receptionists - if you are attending the nightclub / a function you are allocated a room at the hotel side and if not, you are allocated one of the rooms further away from the Club!

Once again many thanks and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Kind regards

We were a family attending a wedding reception and staying for the weekend. The room was spacious, comfortable and well away from the nightclub thankfully which was very busy both on Friday and Saturday The location by the river was beautiful and we woke to a covering of snow. The food both breakfast & wedding meal were really good. The leisure centre pool/gym is the best I've been to. This hotel is really a 4 star not a 3. I would visit again

We chose the Glenavon House Hotel as our wedding venue as it was so reasonably priced. We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Glenavon, right from day one the staff made us feel at ease and helped us with any queries we had during planning. On the day itself everything ran smoothly and we had no problems at all due to staff being so organised. The food and service during our meal was excellent. Most of our guests stayed overnight and were all impressed by the size and cleanliness of the rooms. All in all we had a great day and would definately recommend the Glenavon House Hotel as a wedding venue.

We had our wedding reception on the 22nd June 2013 and would just like to take time to Thank the Glenavon for helping in making it such a wonderful day.
Up to our big day the Glenavon management were in constant contact to make sure that all our planning had been catered for. On the day the food was beautiful and everyone got more than enough to eat which our guests were more than happy with as this is not always the case at other hotels. There was plenty of staff which ensured that everyone got their food piping hot and in a timely manner.
We couldn't have asked for anything more than the helpful staff, stylish facilities and beautiful surroundings provided.
