Description: On the main route from Armagh to the Causeway Coast you can find one of Tyrone's most successful eating houses. Over the last 29 years Otter Lodge has established a reputation for quality and great value for money. Situated on a stunning riverbank location at the south end of Cookstown, Heather and Harold Moffett's award winning bistro is known throughout Northern Ireland for consistently good food and easy drinking wines at very reasonable prices. Orders are placed at the bar but Food is served to the table and this arrangement adds an informal relaxed atmosphere where customers are in control. Otter Lodge is open for light lunches and evening meals and has a lively buzz especially at weekends. Single tables can be reserved for groups of six to 14 in the Wine Bar with larger groups being accommodated upstairs. A selection of great value 'Lunch specials from £6.95' are on offer and due to increased demand, Heather and Harold have recently introduced 'All Day Sunday Opening', and an excellent value 'Evening Deal Menu'.

“I am still reeling”
Reviewed July 2, 2014

I am still reeling from what just happened in this restaurant tonight. we had travelled quiet a distance to visit a friend from the town and it was suggested to go out for tea.
my friend and i selected a main course with the other member going for the 2 course special meal deal which was a starter and main course of burger AND chips.

The starter came and then the 3 main courses. The meal deal was a hamburger and well it would have bounced - it was so hard and dried out. My friend brought it to the attention of the waiter who removed the burger only and brought another menu. That was that, we waited for her return and then i split my meal with her. This was ok until the end when the owner said that he would not charge me for the burger!!!! i explained that the meal was inedible therefore he could not charge anyway BUT believe it or not he charged for the CHIPs which were part of the dish!!!! we also had to pay separate for the starter of bread. But i am still reeling from the fact that we had a plate advertised as burger and chips and because we could NOT EAT the burger they charged us for a portion of chips. It will be a very long time before any of us will travel to this restaurant. This was dealt with very badly by the owner.

lovely quiet spot with lovely gardens and the river is so relaxing. You order your food and when called off you go and enjoy. Hot and tasty and the prices are very good. A great variety on the menu.

“Otter Lodge”
Reviewed May 20, 2014 via mobile

Our first visit to Cookstown and we were unfamiliar with restaurants in the area. After checking the internet we decided to eat at Otter Lodge. We were very happy with our choice. It is informal, but the food was excellent. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The specials were clearly listed on the board, and we also had the regular menu to choose from. Yes, you do have to go to the counter to give your order but that did not detract from our enjoyment of the restaurant. You have plenty of time to check the specials on the board and to read through the menu before ordering. The restaurant is in a lovely location by the river, which was still beautiful in spite of the rain on our visit.
