This establishment is always our first choice that we as a family visit when celebrating family occasions. This time was for our eldest daughter's birthday and as usual we were welcomed with open arms. Six adults and two children had plenty of food choices available, every taste was catered for. Whilst waiting the children were entertained by the puzzles and drawing sheets available. A lovely touch and kept them amused, entertained and from a parents and grandparents point of view quiet so we could chat. The highwaymans platters were thoroughly enjoyed as was the lamb shank by the men. The ploughman's, the ham, egg and chips and the baked potato with prawns were very filling for the ladies. The children as usual had their favourite, homemade chicken nuggets, beans and chips and being homemade were without any additives. The desserts were delicious and every mouthful was savoured. Nothing was too much trouble for the excellent staff, especially as it was on a busy Saturday lunchtime.

The food here was delicious. I had the cockles to start whoch were stunning and not overcooked so they still had theyre flavour, the proceeded to have a mixed grill which was massive and all the meats were great ( not cheap cuts), to finish they made a stunning ammaretto coffee floater. will be visiting again

Well this isn't in the Egon Robay good food guide for nothing. We've been here a few times now and never been disappointed, this time we went with my mum, ne Bx mum both had lamb shank and my husband the hake, all were well prepared and tasty for a desert I had warm chocolate and caramel tart, my mum had the homemade rhubarb tart and my hubby the homemade raspberry cheesecake, again all yummy! No complaints here, well worth the visit!
