Beautiful surroundings and views with well manicured grounds. Not the most dramatic castle in south Wales but well worth a visit.

“Stunning views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

I've visited many times over the years and still see something different each time. The views are stunning and so different depending on the tide and weather. Well worth a visit if you're in the area

“Pretty Castle”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2013 via mobile

We visited the castle with our three boys (7,5,3), Granny and Auntie.
I found the entry fee a little steep for our group as we were only in there for about an hour.
It is a beautiful castle and the boys loved running around and exploring but there wasn't much to hold their interest for more than an hour or so.
It really is a beautiful setting with stunning views from the top. Definitely a place where grown-ups could amble around and sit and relax for a few hours.
The staff in the gift shop were delightful (as we found generally in Wales) and the toilet facilities were good.
We also walked round the base of the castle and the boys played in the little stream which was a big hit.
We combined this visit with a lovely fish and chip lunch by the sea and a trip to The Tin Shed in Laugharne and had a really great
day out.
Definitely worth a visit.

“Dylan was right”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

When Dylan Thomas first visited Laugharne, he got off the bus and forgot to get on again and once you visit this magical town you will realise what he meant. There is something quite magical about this small community perched on the edge of the Taf estuary and the gaunt Norman castle , which dominates the town is both impressive and interesting to visit. It played a major role in the Civil War when the Royalist garrison held out for weeks against heavy shelling and deprivation of food before eventually surrendering , rather oddly, to a Roundhead General called Laugharne. The Castle is open daily from Easter to September and is well worth a visit . The Boathouse, once the home of Dylan Thomas, and The Writing Shed, where he worked should not be missed

“Great Value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2013

This castle is not worth missing. It's one of the cheapest attractions I've ever been in as well. You can climb right into different parts of the castle. The views are amazing and the castle itself is a triumph.
