A fantastic museum with some brilliant exhibits inside. Lots of information available regarding everything, I have lived within 20miles of this place for all of my life but this is the first time ive visited. A very beautiful place but needs a lot of work outside. The original wooden windows are in a sorry state of repair and need extensive work The gardens are overgrown and again could be very beautiful, at the time I was there a lady commented on a pile of plants she had donated a couple of months ago, which staff were grateful to receive but they were still in the original wrapping where the lady had placed them on her previous visit at the side of the path. There is a beautiful chapel inside, if the council run museum is short of money to maintain the building why not hire the chapel out for weddings and the grounds are beautiful for photos. If the outside of the building is not repaired soon, it could be lost for ever

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here at the end of August from our holiday base in Caerphilly. The outside of the Bishop's Palace is in a very sorry state of repair and is not at all inviting with peeling paint and weedy car park and paths. What a pity because the exhibitions inside are excellent and most interesting.

There is a distinct lack of signing to this museum and I feel that many would-be visitors drive straight by the site without noticing it.

This is a very beautiful old house, formerly the Bishop of St. David's Palace, so it warrants money spending on the outside, the car park, and extra signage.

A surprisingly large Museum on the outskirts of Carmarthen. Signage to get there is very good, along with plenty of parking space in the grounds of the old Bishop's Palace. Very helpful receptionist gave us directions, and we were on our way around a staggering number of exhibits. All of them were very well labelled, and information cards and wall notices answered just about all the questions. It was very educational, and I even surprised myself by the amount of interest I had in the most obscure exhibits.

There is a self service cafe for very reasonable priced tea and coffee and small snacks, along with a Gift Shop. The grounds are extensive, and we had a good hour's walk around by the large pond, through trees and woodland on a well maintained path.

A fully recommended Museum for an interesting informative FREE day out

The museum is well laid out. The staff are happy to chat and answer any questions. It is a good place for children which they welcome. There is a small cafe for coffee, tea, ice creams etc.

An excellent museum with lots of local history. Laid out in galleries, each covering a different time period. Many super displays. Building looks a like drab from the outside, but don't let that put you off. Inside it's a completely different story! Free to visit as well.

A must see for anyone interested in Carmarthen and the surrounding area.
