So first things first... It's low budget but authentic and good fun. We went on Easter Monday for a special "driver bob" day and spent a very enjoyable couple of hours on the train and then in the 'entertainment tent' where the kids were entertained by a 'magician' and fair play they loved it! Everyone was very friendly and the valley railway is beautiful, they're extending it further north apparently which will great to see. Will defo come again in the summer.

We booked in advance (a swift, painless affair) and went on the last running Santa Special on Christmas Eve. This was a family affair with mother, ourselves and children on this Christmas treat. On what can only be called an extremely wet day, we were met by happy, smiling volunteers (regardless of the weather), received our goody bags and were off on to the train. We were served with Sherry (those that could drink) on our trip to visit Santa. At the far end of the trip we were again met by happy smiling volunteers, we sampled some snacks and warm drinks from the food van (lovely food at a very reasonable price), had a couple of rides on the miniature railway, visited the train shed and finally visited Santa. The atmosphere and gifts were fantastic and a happy family experience was had by all. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and we boarded the train (First Class compartment, no-less) and returned to the Station.

This was a truly wonderful experience that we all enjoyed. I cannot praise the volunteers/staff enough and would recommend this to anyone, young or old.

Went with our grandson + his parents to visit Santa + we had wonderful time. Many thanks to all involved. Included in the adult price was a hot drink, mince pie, stollen slice + sherry together with a ride on the train + mini train. Our grandson had a goodie bag containing drink, crisps, tangerine + chocolate bar plus a pressie from Santa. What value for money! All the volunteers were very friendly + helpful. The atmosphere was very relaxed yet well organised. We sat on the station + listened to a brass band whilst our grandson was entertained in the grotto with balloons + colouring when queueing for Santa. Highly recommend though please don't all go next year as there won't be room for us.

Took my daughter to see Father Christmas and we all had a lovely time. From the moment we arrived the volunteers/staff were friendly and helpful. The train ride was lovely and when we got to the destination and met Santa I was very impressed with how kind they all were to my daughter. She had a lovely present and was very excited by the experience. I will definately be taking her again next year!
