The weather was fine and after30 years of driving past we decided to pay a visit. Well worth a visit. A ride on the steam train and also the miniature railway. Many family groups enjoying a rare good weather day in Wales.

The ride was brilliant. There is also a smaller train ride half-way round. This is free to go on.
The seating area for picnics was good.
The prices were great. Only £2 for children and they can stay all day.

We went on a cream tea train trip at £10 each. The cream tea was lovely and the trip on the train was enjoyed by all of us, two adults and a 17 and 14 year old. If you get the chance, go to the signal box as we had a great chat with the signal man. All the railway is voluntary and the need people to visit to keep running. Please visit and have a good time.

We were met at the gate by great enthusiasm from the home guard and french resistance re-enactors. Very authentic vibe with an old bus to take you from the Bronwydd hall car park to the station. Very knowledgable chaps on board the bus and trains.
Numerous carriages that would be wonderful to view and travel on if they had the funding and staff to repair them.
Catering had a great vintage edge, span sarnies, corned beef stew served in/on tin plates and cups.
Beautiful scenery would have loved to have been able to sit in the picnic area to enjoy our food but some serious tree cutting had occured recently which filled the area. Essential work I know but shame the trees werent cleared in time for tje open day events.
Overall an enjoyable day but can see room for imorovements if only funding and man power are available for them to do so.

Gwili is a very sweet little attraction. Its not the biggest steam railway ride you could take, but it makes for a lovely short trip out. The steam train pulled into the station, we boarded and found a seat in one of the carriages - complete with slidey doors in true Harry Potter style. The engine blew its whistle and we gently pulled out the station and headed off up the valley through some lovely countryside. We trundled up the tracks at a gentle pace to the end of the line. The train then changed ends and took us back down the line to a station where we alighted for 1/2 hour. The children could take a short miniature train ride and had the weather been kinder there was an area where you could picnic. The train then set off on the final part of its journey back to the main station. An enjoyable excursion for the family.
