On the day of the first proper winter snow, we decided to go out for an end of week glass. Town and the Angel was very quiet just a few hardy souls out. We decided to have a meal. The menu offered plenty of choice and value. 3 rump steaks and some slow cooked beef later, our sons went for pudding. Meal was very good freshly cooked and delicious. Good value and an easy casual dinning experience. Definitely worth a visit.

Went for a late lunch with a group of friends yesterday. The comfy sofas were probably the best part of the experience. The food was mediocre - I had a cranberry and Brie baguette (where was the Brie!) and a friend had a wrap that more closely resembled a sandwich that had been flattened by a steamroller. On the plus side the local ale was good.

Our group of 4 dined here and were not really impressed with the food. Service was adequate and most food was OK until the duck dish arrived - duck was poorly cooked and tougher than boot leather. Could not eat it. Mentioned it to the young lady serving and she took in what I said without really responding. Then.....nothing! No response at all. No offer to replace it, no apology. Ate the mashed potato and vegetables and drank the wine and had to be satisfied with that.
We spent over £120 (including drinks), and left rather disappointed.
Don't order the duck ! !

A couple of friends and myself decided to go to The Angel as I had been hearing good things - my title says it all really. We had Nachos, Whitebait and Crostini to start, Steak, Chicken and Beef for main, no complaints about the food, it was very enjoyable however, were never asked how the food was even to the point that we had to ask a waitress for more sauce for the Beef dish, she replied 'you're nearly finished too'. The waitresses never seemed to be around. We had to stack our plates after each course so they would be cleared. We ordered desserts which were lovely but unfortunatly I was unable to finish mine as the waitress started to clear away the plates before I has finished - we assumed this was beacuse they were closing as the lights were being turned off when we were still in the dining room. Lovely food just such a same about the staff. I have rated the atmosphere as poor because there were only 2 other diners in the restaurant, I'm sure it has a great buzz when it's busy!

Visited some time ago between Xmas and New Year. Lunch Brie and cranberry sandwich. Tiny sandwich made with 2 slices of baguette. Cranberry sweet like jam. Crisps advertised were prawn crackers!! We'd tried to buy packets of crisps earlier with our drinks but were told they'd run out. As vegetarians prawn crackers were not only a bizarre and weird option with a brie sandwich but ethically vile too.
