We ate on Christmas Eve and were very impressed. I am a fine dining chef with Michelin star experience and I would be happy to have produce food to this standard. Highlights were the fish cake starter, slow cooked beef main course and the belly pork main course

“Bar meals were good value”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

We were too late for the restaurant so settled for a sandwich from the bar. We sat in the lounge area which is between the bar and the front of the hotel, with comfortable settees and armchairs. Menus were on the tables, and we ordered from the bar where we had to prepay for the food and drinks. Drinks were served immediatley for us to take back to the table, but food was brought to the table from the kitchen as soon as it was ready. The sandwiches were excellent and the service fast and efficient.

“The very best B&B ever”
Reviewed December 14, 2012

Stayed for 3 nights - Neat wee village, some good local sites, and a good base to drive to St Davids, Hay-On-Wye, Brecon Beacons, The Mumbles. Best of all was the Cawdor itself - great room with lots of character, beautiful beds, great bar and restaurant, fabulous comfort in the lounge, and very well priced. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Could have spent the whole holiday right there. Still smiling about the whole experience.

“Warm friendly country hotel atmosphere”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

The Cawdors is set in the middle of LLandeilo, a pretty market town on the River Towy which is well worth a visit. The hotel has a country house feel. There is a small comfortable lounge area adjacent to a bar which has tables and chairs and a rather cold atmosphere. The restaurant is large, wood panelled with a vintage feel, comfortable and welcoming.

The food is very good. There are deals some lunchtimes and the menu is interesting, making good use of local produce. The food is well presented and the service is very good. Overall worth a visit at lunchtime or for an evening meal.

“Don't go for the food it's a rip off.”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

I'm local so haven't stayed overnight, but my experience of the food is that it is mediocre and overpriced. Bread is often stale, cheese is old, soups uninspired. The only vegetarian main 0 Talley Goats Cheese Tart has been the sole option on the menu now for the last 5 years. It's a joke. Staff generally disinterested and disengaged. They're lucky they've got no compettion to speak of. Would never recommend it. Find yourself a nice B&B and a local pub meal.
