“Nice hotel, friendly staff”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

Lovely room & very modern bathroom. The bed was really comfortable and the hotel was peaceful at night which makes a change from a lot of hotels I've stayed in. Staff were really friendly and the breakfast was good. Central location in Llandeilo so would recommend it - I'd definitely stay there again if I was in the area.

Stayed at the Cawdor for two nights, sixteen of us the Friday night and a full hotel on the second. Got to be honest we had a blast. From the moment we arrived, everything had been organised superbly for our sons wedding, Mary was excellent. Pleasant surroundings , ex food and nice champagne!! We were left to organise ourselves on the morn of the wedding, no hassle from cleaning staff, in fact they were cleaning and tidying around us. Good breakfast, followed by a well organised wedding and wedding breakfast. Food was superb! Even one of my fussy friends who doesn't like anything red on a plate!!! Was catered for!!( coulis was left off his cheesecake, fab it was too) evenings exception food was as god as day, the goats cheese tart was to die for! The following morning the lovely cleaning staff and a really nice gentleman helped us carry all our wedding belongings to the car!! Diolch yn fawr I chi gyd!! Won't be long before we return for a night or two! A***

Last weekend we attended a family wedding and the reception was held at The Cawdor. My partner and I agreed wholeheartedly that this was the best wedding reception we had attended for many years. Naturally being with family was the main source of enjoyment> The hotel staff, food and facilities were excellent and made a positive contribution to our enjoyment.

On arrival from the church, staff gave us a friendly welcome and quickly distributed drinks and canapés. The main meal was well organised with food being served to all tables quickly, all dishes were hot and all superbly cooked. I had homemade fishcakes as a starter - these were soft and well cooked. The chicken breast that followed was moist. My partner and several others at the table had beef fillet and all comment on the generous portion and the consistency of cooking. The plate of assorted desserts was a wonderful finish to the meal. As if we had not had enough to eat, we were presented with a choice of cold meats and salads later in the evening.
We had chosen to stay the night, we had one of the rooms at the front. Though hot, it was comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was freshly prepared and of equal standard to the other meals.

Staff were all helpful, friendly and efficient. Thank you all. A wonderful weekend.

The room was nice, lovely bathroom, very modern. Power shower. Although turned heating off room was boiling! Even in this cold weather. Food was ok . The restaurant is one large room with wood flooring so very noisey! Seating in bar area is nice leather sofas. Breakfast was not nice, i had scrambled egg (was it powdered?) ! Tasted very strange i couldnt eat it. Bacon was boiled rather than fried. My husband said his breakfast tasted reheated. Staff were nice.

Stayed one night at The Cawdor boutique hotel. Room was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. Bathroom was ultra modern with Molton Brown Toiletries. Booked a table for dinner in the restaurant which was really good value for money - 2 courses for £20. The food was locally sourced and absolutely lovely. Retired for a drink in the lounge with warm open fire. Fabulous!

The relationship between customer and business got off to a bad start when I was unable, despite several attempts, to book a room online. I resorted to the phone line and passed on, at the start of the conversation with reservations, that the online reservation system was not working. I was told very quickly that the online reservation system had nothing to do with the hotel. Of course, I knew what was meant but the person on the other end of the phone was my only contact with The Cawdor and therefore was The Cawdor! To disown an important part of their operation seemed odd.
Matters improved upon arrival. Reception was efficient and welcoming and we were shown to our room. The room was spacious, well decorated and comfortable. The bathroom, for a hotel of this standard was, in my view, exceptional. Nicely tiled, an integrated bath shower with a very good shower. Good toiletries, tissues and plenty of towels on a working electric towel rail. So far, so good. We dined at The Cawdor that night and the food was better than OK. It was well cooked and plentiful, service was OK. Breakfast the next morning, taken in the dining room, consisted of a buffet with cooked items available to order. Again service and food were better than OK.
The Cawdor is well placed in the centre of Llandeilo and has a good car park behind the hotel. Bar meals are available for most of the day and are of a good standard. The lounge (open to non residents) is comfortable and warm. Llandeilo has numerous individual shops and has so far resisted the onward march of the ubiquitous chain stores. For this reason alone it is worth a visit and The Cawdor is a most comfortable place to stay. Plenty of places to visit can be found in the surrounding area, Dinefwr and Aberglasney Gardens to name but two. The Cawdor could be the ideal place for a quiet but interesting weekend or mid week getaway.

Room Tip: Look at the room descriptions on the website, they are accurate.
