“Excellent lunch”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

Beautiful character pub which is surprisingly large on the inside. Arrived for lunch at 12 noon & it was already filling up, would recommend booking if you are coming a distance.
Roaring log fire was welcoming on a cool spring day. We looked at the vast menu & opted for nibbles to start & open sandwiches with chips..the portions were substantial!
The food was fresh & tasty with lots of local sourcing being seen on the menu. We couldn't manage dessert but had coffee instead, price for all this food & drinks £33.
Will definately be back to the Tempest Arms, nice atmosphere with friendly staff & good food, what more do you need?

“Signature dish, shoulder of lamb to die for!”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

Make sure you make a table reservation of you want to eat in the restaurant, the Tempest is always busy and there's a good reason for that! If you call in on chance, you can usually find a table in the bar.
We often take friends into the Dales and stop for lunch at the Tempest on our way up through Skipton, we have always been made most welcome and enjoyed a real Yorkshire culinary experience every time.
Our recommendation would be the Lamb Henry, slow cooked overnight it just falls off the bone and rolls into your mint sauce and roast vegetables.
Unless you are really hungry, you may wish to pass on the starters and save room for dessert!
Such an extensive menu, Gordon Ramsey would say there is too much choice, but the Tempest Chef is able to delight, no matter what you select. The liver and onions are highly recommended!

Never mind Mr 'GR' He can sort out all the others! Our head chef is a dedicated and very special man. Who loves offering a great choice many of our guests return each week and often twice a week this size menu gives them a great deal of choice and stops them and the chef's getting board!

We are thrilled that you enjoyed your visit and I am in agreement on the shoulder of lamb dish it has been our biggest selling item for 17 years now!

Once again thank you and we look forward to seeing you again very soon.

“Unwavering excellence”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

Having discovered the Tempest in 1998 we have returned many many times. Last week it was to celebrate a 60th wedding anniversary and once again the food, service and atmosphere were 'diamond' class. This gem of a place is just top notch and if you havent been then go as soon as possible!!

“Generous portions!”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

This establishment is often busy, and being part of the Ribble valley experience group it has a decent pedigree. Its a fine ivy clad building, that has open fires and a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. The service is excellent- being both attentive and friendly.
The menu choice is huge, which is usually a bad sign, and its keen to point out that the food is local and of good quality. The food however, is quite wonderful - ive been several times and ive yet to be disappointed.
Presentation is good, the portions are very generous, and it tastes great. what more could you want?
