It took a bit of finding as it seemed to be in the middle of nowhere but it turned out to be very well worth the effort. There's so much variety in a small space with different types of garden. The garden that runs down from the house is so skilfully done and so tasteful. It's amazing that such restrained planting can produce such an effect. The setting in the middle of the Dales just adds to the magic of the place.

We went here to take our dog for a walk and to look at the gardens. It was beautiful. The gardens are so well maintained with a fantastic variety of various environments for them. Dogs are very welcome and the staff lovely.
We stayed for a bite to eat. This was excellent value and the coffee was also pretty good too.

A truly lovely place to go to, to get away from it all- to contemplate and relax. Fantastic gardens and amazing views. Shhhhh! Don't let everyone know!

This is a garden well worth a visit. Tucked into the hillside near Appletreewick the garden is full of surprises and has magnificent views. The gardens are divided into rooms and each one is different. Well worth the £5 each for pensioners.
There is a good tea room. We spent around 4 hours there including a visit to the tea room.

We used to live near Skipton when I was younger and my father stayed at the hall through work. So on a recent viist to Ilkley we took the opportunty to visit. The gardens were a delight. the guide book showed us clearly where to walk and there are lots of seats to sit pause and reflect. The flower beds infront of the house were gorgeous and the rock gardens are stunning. We especailly liked the candelabra primula so bought one from the shop. I had a delicious wholemeal ginger scone and the spicy butternut squash soup was enjoyed by my husband in the cafe. A tranquil and stunning place to visit
