“Don't judge a book by its cover!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2013 via mobile

At first glance this b & b/hotel looks a bit dated. The decor is a bit old. But the comfy bed & brilliant breakfast make it a worthwhile stay! Great value for money and great central location for Skipton.

Great location, easy to find and very homely. If you like a chain hotel this is not for you, but if you like quirky and friendly then I am sure you will enjoy it too. The rooms are spacious, clean and cosy, and the hospitality tray was a wonder (cafeterie, tea, lots of biscuits).

I will definitely stay here again next time I am in the area.

Lovely cats too .....

The room was large and the bed was comfortable. However, the bathroom was very poor with a cracked toilet seat, mould, a shower you couldn't stand under and wafer thin walls. Both the room and the bathroom were old, tired and generally shabby. The weather was warm but we didn't open the window due to the overpowering smell of curry from an adjacent restaurant.
Breakfast was distinctly average.
Service was shambolic.
The only reason we stayed here was because we only wanted to stay one night in Skipton and everywhere else had a minimum 2 night stay requirement at weekends. If we were to stay in Skipton again it would be elsewhere.

Room Tip: Judging by other reviews some of the rooms must be better than others. Perhaps we should have asked...

This is not a luxury hotel, but if you want convenience and a great location then it does the trick! It was clean, the room was huge and the shower was great for an old bathroom! We did not experince any noise from the clubs next door, certainly not enough to keep us awake or wake us up once we were asleep!
The breakfast in the morning was lovely but absolutely massive! If you don't have a massive appetite maybe ask for a small one as we just ordered a full english and felt guilty at the amount we couldn't manage!
All in all a good base for exploring the surroundings.

Room clean and comfortable , breakfast was really tasty , the young chef at Alchemist even went out of his way and cooked me Tortilla with my breakfast as I don't eat meat , and it was very tasty . We would without doubt go back if we are ever up that way for a weekend again .

Room Tip: Phone direct , not through Laterooms as you get a better deal , ie breakfast as well .

very friendly Sara, room nice big bright and clean. Very comfy beds (new mattresses I think). No noise from outside to worry about. Bang smack in the middle of Skipton and a triple room for 50 quid. Can't go wrong. Room 3 is airy and spacious with windows to two sides. Thanks
