“Bit of a mixed bag.”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

We were in Skipton on NYD; so we decided to book on line as we thought everywhere would be shut. Very easy.

The pub has atmosphere with a capital A. I was expecting a highwayman to come and tie up his horse at any moment.

The beer is a full range of Timmy Taylors; so no problems there for an ale drinker.

The service was good, but the food was average and a few quid too much.

My main gripe is that I prefer my food served on a hot ceramic plate that can go in a red hot dishwaher. Our burgers came on a deeply lacerated breadboard, that could have been home for squillions of bacteria.

So as I say a pretty mixed review.

Thanks for your review. I understand your concerns with the boards, but i can totally assure you that they are thoroughly cleaned and sanitised after every use. We would never do anything that would endanger someones health and have checked that the boards more than reach EHO regulations.

I am glad you enjoyed our range of beers and hopefully we will see you again soon.

“Awesome Sunday lunch”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

staying in skipton for a few days - we tried out the Wooly Sheep a couple of times in the evening and for Sunday lunch. The roast beef was briliant and the roast lamb - totally awesome.
I'm going back to skipton just for the roasts!

Reviewed December 29, 2012

Only moved to the area and had heard great reviews about this place from the locals. I was not disappointed, lovely english pub, great atmosphere and great service.

The food seved is definately NO 'Pub Grub'! The food is amazing, well presented with a great selction of drinks at the bar. Probably better to book ahead incase, but definately recommend this place !

“Fantastic food and service”
Reviewed December 23, 2012

This pub is very much a case of "don't judge a book by it's cover" form the outside it looks nothing special but walk in and it's like a tardis. A long bar area then leads to the restuarant area at the rear. We were seated very quickly and provided with menu and drinks orders taken. We ordered the 10 oz steak and the beef burgonoin both arrived in a decent time and were both delicious, chips were cooke din dripping like great chips should be, they forgot my wifes side of vegetables but quickly rectified this which showed reflected the firdt class service offered. All i can say is go and try this place, ot's not the cheapest but as they say you get what you pay for. Fantastic spot.

“Always a pleasure!”
Reviewed December 18, 2012

Called in with some friends on Saturday to introduce them to this gem of a pub and eatery. Of course it was busy as its market day, near to Xmas but as ever the service was good, the food excellent.
The fire was in the hearth, the Timmy Taylors landlord was on form, could have stayed all day!!! but places to go, people to see!
