“Just the place for a 90th birthday celebration!”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

We chose The Crown Inn as it had some excellent reviews and it was well-placed for a drive in the country with our wonderful Mum, who was celebrating her 90th birthday. When making the booking, we were assured that although they close the kitchens at 2.30 p.m., we would be able to have a relaxing lunch and not have to rush away immediately afterwards. And this was the case! One of the owners greeted us and gave us the menus. She explained the dishes on the menu and told us about the specials of the day. They had reserved us a table for 5 in an alcove away from the rest of the lunchers and this allowed us to celebrate in style and relative privacy. The food and wines were excellent and they gave us a bottle of bubbly to toast our Mum, which was a very nice gesture on their part. The desserts were as good as the mains and we left there around 4.30.p.m. having enjoyed our little family party immensely. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and would also return there. We did make a provisional booking for our Mum's 100th birthday in 10 years time!!

“Always amazing!”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

We went here as a family for my Birthday. It is somewhere we visit quite often - sometimes for a drink, other times for a meal - but it is always and incredible experience.
Firstly the staff here are amazing - they are always really friendly and treat you like part of the family, we have attended many events here and it always has a great atmosphere. They have a play area for the children and a rope swing across the ditch - my kids will play for hours here and let us have a peaceful hour.
Secondly the food is good, really good. You wont find anything incredible pretentious on the menu, just good, well cooked, quality food. The Sunday lunch is really good and well worth the money.
Thirdly the range of wines and beers on offer is really good for a small place - we never have a problem finding a nice bottle to drink!

Overall I would highly recommend this place to anyone, for a romantic meal out, or a family lunch outside during the summer - my only peice of advice is to book a table as they can get really busy!

“Fantastic,good value food.”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

We were driving through the area and used Tripadvisor to find somewhere for lunch - what a brilliant place! It was British Pie Week so there was a special menu - both our lunches were delicious and inventive pies, service was polite and attentive. I wish I could pick up this pub and out it at the end of my street!

“Excellent in every way!”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

WOW! This was an excellent dining experience. The food was delicious - what was particularly lovely was the combination of flavours. On commenting that our red wine, that was already good, improved on breathing, the staff quickly offered to decant the bottle - not something that in my experience is offered very often. Staff were friendly attentative but not invasive. The atmosphere was cosy and warmly iinviting. All in all we had a first class evening - THANK YOU
