It's a damn good beach! wide open, clean and -when it's not packed- it's a misanthrope's paradise. Perfect when you need a break from the world. And get your butt down to the Pitt Stop in Kilkeel afterwards for and unforgettable fish and chip! x

I just love Cranfield Beach ive been going there since I was a child and now I take my grandchildren. its a lovely sandy beach with a few stones. it is surrounded with caravans an some of these can be rented out. although you do need to have a because if weather is not so good there nothing to do on site. only danger on the beach is cars an jeeps driving along to leave boats a jet skis down.

Clean, slightly stony beach with lifeguards present. Excellent panoramic views. Parking close to the beach, but you would need to arive early on hot sunny days. Shop and public toilets

Cranfield beach is a lovely beach in both summer and winter. Although the beach has a lot of stones its still possible when the tide is out to walk along the beach to greencastle. The Views from the beach are beautiful. You can see greenore in the distance . Its best to take a picnic if spending the day and a windbreaker as theres always a breeze. If the kids are going into the water you will need to watch out for jellyfish. At weekends cranfield is always busy with lots of jet skis .
I would advise going mid week when its much quieter although my favourite time to go is early on Sunday morning.
.
There is a car park, toilets, picnic benches and in high season the is usually an ice cream van. There is a caravan park and campsite adjacent to cranfield with onsite shop.
A great day out
