Visited with my mum and her mate, was very busy and the ambiance was fantastic. Staff were polite and made sure we had everything we needed. I had the salmon and it was cooked to perfection. Dessert was amazing. Portions were huge and we were all very full at the end. Definitely going back and would recommend to everyone.

Visited for a meal and to check the place out for future accommodation. Meal was of good quality and manner of staff was excellent. Premises were clean and fresh and the overall feel was of quality.
Will definitely book a room for any future trips to the area.

We visited The Blue Lion for a Sunday Lunch to celebrate a family birthday. On arrival, I was disappointed to find that our party of 15 had been split up onto two tables. My sister (who had made the booking) hadn't arrived but I thought I'd just ask the manager if there was any possibility of us all being seated together. I was shocked at his rude and obnoxious response. The foos itself was lack lustre to say the least. The other members of the party enjoyed their starters, but the goats cheese and beetroot tart was completely tasteless. The meat was sliced extremely thin, the roast potatoes were hard, and the vegetables were overcooked. The gravy thin and had a strange but strong twang. Dessert was lovely, but the cheese board overpiced, lacked cheese and came with sticky toffee cheddar which was frankly disgusting. On booking, we explained that our elderly parents didn't really drink and asked what selection of low alcohol wines they had. We were told they didn't have any but if we wanted to take our own, there would a corkage charge of £5 per bottle! When spending around £250 I'd have thought this could have been wavered for the one bottle we wanted to take. On a plus point, the waitresses couldn't be more helpful - lovely girls. We're a local family, but won't be visiting again.

Visited with friends for a meal, the 3 meals were very average and poor value for money and one was unedible!!! The service was very slow considering there was only 7 other diners. The young waitresses seemed to be missing from the restraunt a lot of the time when it would have been helpful to get a little service. One of us ordered a red wine which was so slow being served that I got up and fetched it from the bar where the bar staff were just standing talking to each other!!! Needless to say we didn't pay for the one unedible meal and felt that value and quality did not equate to the cost of the meals we paid for!!! This used to be an extremely busy eatery and drinking hole and for a Friday evening was not so!!! This was probably an indicator to the decline????
