“Excellent garden centre and excellent restaurant”
Reviewed April 26, 2014

We travelled an hour to visit this place and it exceeded expectation. Luckily we had booked as even on a rainy Friday it was chockablock. Four of us had lunch and the food was superb with very generous portions. All meals tried were of good quality and freshly made. Even the tea was lovely (tea pigs). We returned after a good shop in the garden centre for tea and cake and this was also lovely. Customer service by a young man who actually found us on our way out to check we hadn't made a mistake on the tip as my friend had meant to put in total to debit but instead added it as a tip. How very kind of him and it was sorted out immediately. We left planning another trip there! Can't say better than that. Thank you very much.

“Hostile Service”
Reviewed April 25, 2014

Took mum up for morning coffee and cake was met by a hostile young man who asked "have you booked" to which I replied we don't want lunch just coffee and cake. He said all tables were booked except for a small table for two in doorway which was very drafty. I got up to shut the door and was asked to leave it open as the staff were hot,,!!!!
We were eventually moved to a small table at the back of the restaurant where it was warmer which was reserved for 1pm and as it was only 11am I couldn't see this as a problem.
Service and staff were very off, cake was quite stale - not a good experience.
Would not go there again.

“Great Food”
Reviewed March 18, 2014

Popped into this cafe which is situated in a Garden Centre yesterday (Monday) at approx 1.45 was met by quite a surly man whose first comment was 'have you booked'. He seemed very abrupt and there was no good afternoon or welcome, which I found unusual. Despite this the waitress who took over from him, I assume once she saw the shock on our faces, was welcoming, polite and efficient. Food was very good and of a particularly high standard given that we were only in a garden centre. One downside was that they charge £4 for a bottle of water which I thought was a little on the expensive site.

“Great for lunch”
Reviewed March 8, 2014 via mobile

You wouldn't expect such a lovely cafe/restaurant hidden away in the outdoor area of a garden centre, but this place really is a delight. We came here for a spot of lunch and had the cheese and fish ploughmans, a couple of coffees and finished off with a couple of slices of homemade cake. All the food is fresh, well presented, good quality and served by friendly professional staff. A great place for lunch!

“Another excellent meal here”
Reviewed March 7, 2014

Living a distance away, only returned to the Twig & Spoon today for the first time since last autumn. Excellent food as always from this bistro. Really helpful service. Good value for money. Will come back through the spring and summer.
