“Quality accommodation. Good pub food”
Reviewed August 3, 2014

Met up with friends for 2 night stay in 2 bed cottage self catering . Very good value compared to hotel accommodation in the area at £60 per couple per night.
Very clean, very well equipped , quality bedding towels etc. great layout with bathroom for each double room so no sharing. Easy to find minutes from M6 j35.

Meal in the hotel restaurant was very good; locally sourced gammon.

Staff throughout the hotel and restaurant were polite, friendly and helpful.

Couldn't fault it at all. Be very happy to return

Room Tip: . If wanting the two bed cottage then note that the top floor bedroom gets background noise noise f...

Hello,
Thank you for your feedback. I really do not know what we would do without the cottages, I just wish we had more as they never seem to disappoint!
I will pass all of your comments onto the team.
Kind regards,
Fiona

Our family went to the Longlands for my brothers birthday, we only live nearby but had not been for a few years, and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of food and the service. Everyone's food was really good, I had the Lancashire cheese rissotto balls and the Fleetwood fish, chips and mushy peas, my hubby's black puding with poached egg then his home made cheese burger were yummy. We had 5 children with us and all their meals from the children's menu were very good too and we all know that happy children mean happy adults, everyone's plates went back empty and we had a very pleasant evening.
We will definitely be going back again soon.

Hello,
Thank you very much for your comments. I am really pleased that you and your family enjoyed your meal.
Having two very small children myself, I know first hand that happy children mean happy adults. In order to make this family experience even better I am looking to purchase some sort activity rather than just coloring pencils to keep the children entertained. Any ideas gratefully received!
Kind regards,
Fiona

We use this hotel quite regularly for meeting friends and it used to be very nice but for some reason over the past few months the services is APALLING!! You struggle to get the staffs attention to order food or drinks then it takes ages to arrive. The quality of the food seems to be taking a dive too. A real shame as it is a very nice pub if you ignore the food and staff!

Hello,

I am really glad that you have taken the time to post your feedback. I am so disappointed that you have not enjoyed The Longlands as much recently. May I assure you that I am striving to improve service standards and are undertaking regular team development meetings and have also committed to an outside provider to do regular customer training sessions with the team.
As for the food quality, I have now employed another senior chef to improve standards and provide consistency.
I really hope that you will visit again and would be more than happy to discuss your feedback if you contact me at The Longlands.
Kind regards,
Fiona

My wife and i have stayed here on numerous occasions as the location, food & staff are great.
We stayed for a night in a coach house room ( our 3rd time ) and just love it, there are also other rooms which we have stayed in and they too are great! Very clean with all the bits you need for a night out.
Lovely walks along the canal and very good food.
Im sure it wont be long before we return again.
Thanks once again Longlands :)

Good afternoon,
Thank you for your lovely comments. The Coach House rooms are my personal favouite as I like the traditional feel to them along with the fabulous luxury of the Vi Spring beds!
I agree that there are some superb walks around the area such as along The Lancaster Canal or if you feel like going further afield then Silverdale has some great walks to offer.
If you need any advise for places to visit in the future, I would be more than happy to help.
Kind regards,

Fiona

Well presented Country Inn, Restaurant and Hotel set in the village of Tewitfield and located next to a Marina on the Lancaster Canal.

Bar Area - Was vey well presented and attended too with clean bar counter, bar server was sparkling with all bottles shining. We were served very promptly. The bar area is large and bar snacks are served. There is lots of outside seating, although the front of the hotel, there is a busy main road. Was disappointed to note that although they did have a Pool Table, it was not working properly. There was no white cue ball and balls frequently got stuck in the mechanism making play difficult especially as the black ball would not release. reported this to the bar, but no one took any notice. reported it to reception who advised that someone had misplaced the cue ball that's why there was a bright yellow ball to replace it. Didn't answer why the table wasn't working properly.

Restaurant - we booked a family table and gratefully had booked previously as the restaurant was very busy with service. We were attend too promptly and chose a selection of differing meals. All arrived promptly with excellent presentation. It was refreshing to note that Chef knew how to properly present a Roast Beef dinner with thick cut rare beef. One of our party chose the salmon, which she remarked as being the best she had tasted since her cruise a couple of year back. Good praise indeed.

Inner hallway to Bedrooms - is looking very tired. The stair carpet has been bleach by the sun due to floor to ceiling windows with no sun screen evident. The tread on some of the stairs is thread bare, but these are pedantic points and should not detract from the other excellent standard of accommodations.

Bedrooms - Large spacious bedroom with King Sized bed. Excellent layout and well furnished which could put some chain hotels charging nearly twice as much to shame. There is obviously a problem with noise in the bedrooms as each bedside table was equipped with ear plugs. This probably comes from the busy road at the front and from the Marquee erected for weddings to the rear.

Cottages - The cottages are superbly equipped with every need for self catering. They are equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, hob and oven etc. The cottage we had was fitted out with two double bedrooms and a bed settee. Both bathrooms had showers. Excellent fitting out made our stay very comfortable. The management have a dog friendly ethos, but you would never guess as they keep the cottages in pristine condition and there are no doggie smells evident.

Conclusions - This is obviously a well oiled machine displaying excellent management and staff attention to detail. There are some points which I have highlighted but are pedantic in nature and should not detract from what is an excellent place to visit.

Good afternoon and thank you.
I am so grateful that you have taken the time to give such concise, well balanced feedback.
We aim to be a well oiled machine and have been working hard to grow The Longlands for the last 28 years. Obviously, being a family run business we are constantly looking to improve fixtures and fittings and the corridor is next on our list. All the team were very pleased with your report.
Thank you again,
Fiona.
P.s. We now have a white ball.

The warm atmosphere, spacious bar and restaurant and outside seating all make this a great place for a meal. We visited on a warm July evening and chose from the interesting and well presented menu.
We were joined by Ronnie, the well behaved black Labrador who lives at the inn. It was a nice touch that the owner came over and checked that we were ok with having Ronnie around.
