“Lots of pluses, but coffee not up to mark.”
Reviewed February 4, 2014 via mobile

This cafe is well positioned, right opposite Kawakawa's world famous (must see) toilets. Service is god. One of our group had a vey nice omelette, the other two had a scone and a muffin. Some say cafe a bit scruffy, perhaps it is. But all in all, a nice spot. However the coffee came up short; vey short. Tepid and weak. 'Atomic' brand coffee is not the country's best, but it is usually very good (see my review of Russell's Waterfront cafe). So Trainspotter needs to undertake some Barista training.

“Yummy coffee”
Reviewed January 21, 2014

Best stop in the north for coffee, staff are friendly and food is great. A great place to sit and watch the world go by including the train, buy the paper from the bookshop next door and relax

“Good coffee”
Reviewed October 7, 2013 via mobile

Good coffee and muffins. Used to be a lot better. It needs to a big scrub, a paint and more love put into to the menu and staff training.

“Fab espresso, friendly staff, nice vibe, worth stopping”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

Just an espresso stop but a very goodone worthy of mention here. Right across the road from Hundertwasser's work, will always stop here to grab coffee. Also bought dry flax roses, $2.50 each or $15 bunch of 12. Well worth it as they don't disintegrate like normal flowers.

“a good complement to Hundertwasser!”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Very few one horse towns exist which are visited primarily for their world famous toilets - in this case designed by the well known artist Hundertwasser. If you are passing through Kawakawa don't miss the toilets and then make for the Trainspotter Cafe opposite. Friendly service tempted us to an excellent full breakfast and the coffee was of a high standard too. A great homely feel with a lot of local support
